Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes
Get your CX or MTB fix in the dead of winter without your dogs howling in the cold. Lake's new MX 145 Mountain Bike shoe is the answer to cold-weather trail assaults in conditions that are wet, windy, or blustery--but cold--around 30-45 degrees cold. They feature super durable synthetic and waxed canvas uppers and a double boa dial fit setup ensures that your foot stays exactly where you want it in the shoe. MX 145s also feature minimal lugs for a little added traction when walking in wet weather.
  • Coverage of angle and foot keeps warmth in
  • Waxed canvas and synthetic leather are rain proof
  • Injected nylon platform maintains stiffness
  • Aggressively lugged sole for winter traction when walking
  • 2 boas make for ideal fit for every ride

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

I like the Lake 145's but they are far from water proof. I just finished a ride in rain in Michigan and I poured water out them at completion.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

Bought these since I was able to get them for $135 or so. If I was able I would have gotten them in Wides, but for $260! The Size 45 which is US 11 fit fine in length but is snug on the sides. Tried to go to a bigger size, but length was just too much so foot would not be in the right place in the shoe. Hope to these work when it gets colder.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

These are as waterproof as you can find
Worn in heavy 2 hour rain and no leakage at all
I would recommend sizing 1/2 up depending on your sock wear
These are light considering what you need them for
I also have LAKE mx331 and cx331 shoes and I just smile

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

I got these so that my toes wouldn't freeze during cold weather/winter mountain biking. I wore them last night in the pouring rain (I live in the Pacific Northwest), puddles several inches deep; mud, mud and more mud. It was great. Boots stayed dry inside and toes stayed dry for quite a while (about an hour), but, eventually with all the rain and splashing, the water worked its way into the boot, but, much better than my spring/summer shoes. Temps were in the low 40's. I will be riding through the winter and feel these will work great in colder weather.

I read reviews and got a size one larger than I usually wear (46 instead of 45) and the fit seems to be just right with a thick sock, with a bit more room for a thicker sock if I need it.

Boot seems pretty durable and dried out quickly after my ride (hosed them off and set them in front of a fan). Good stiff sole. I use Crank Brothers Candy pedals and used the metal shim to mount the cleat. Clearance was just right.

I've never used the BOA lacing before so we will see how they hold up. Seems to work fine. It will take some time as the boot breaks in to know how much I need to tighten them before riding. I had to stop several times to adjust them last night (mostly to tighten them).

They didn't come with spikes to mount to the boot tip but there are holes for them. I had an extra set so added them to the boot for extra traction.

Also, the boots came with a little T6 star driver in a bag talking about the BOA laces; I have no idea what it is for.

Overall I think this was a great buy.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

Bought these for the mucky, colder conditions. They are great. I like the boa, you can adjust the upper and lower sections seperately.

I wear a 44 Sidi and bought a 45 to wear an extra sock or one thick sock. It gave me extrs room but not too much, as to be sloppy.

Comments about Lake MX 145 Mountain Shoes:

This is my second pair of Lakes. I like the higher style for ankle support. The previous pair used a rear zipper and Velcro straps which lasted 2 seasons before the zipper wore out. These use a ratchet system that I also use on my gloves and it is quick and easy to tighten. Overall great boots and the price was very competitive.
