Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike
The Fuji SL-1 is one of the most popular carbon fiber road bikes out there. Its geometry is great for everything from racing to longer rides. The monocoque C4 carbon fiber frame is stiff and super lightweight to make climbing, sprinting and riding hard a breeze. The carbon fiber fork helps dampen road vibration and stiffens up the front end for improved out of the saddle efforts. The Shimano 105 shifters and derailleurs deliver the same performance as the higher-end Dura-Ace components so you'll get crisp, reliable shifting every time. Lightweight and durable Oval stem, bars and shifters, and alloy aero wheels round out this stellar package. This is one of the best values on a brand-name road bike you're going to find anywhere.
  • The Fuji SL-1 Comp road bike features a monocoque C-4 carbon frame with 12K weave carbon strands and C-4 carbon curved stays for lightweight performance
  • Fuji bonded carbon fork delivers incredible responsiveness
  • Shimano 105 20-speed drivetrain with FSA cranks blend race-proven technology with ergonomic perfection to give you a new level of shifting performance
  • Shimano 105 STI levers put quick and efficient shifting right at your fingertips
  • Oval alloy handlebar, stem and seatpost combine strength, style and performance
  • Dual-pivot brakes deliver efficient braking power and smooth modulation
  • Continental Ultra Sport tires for comfort and exceptional handling
  • Alloy aero wheels are strong, lightweight and responsive

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

I bought this for my wife, luckily, it was the size she needed. You have to compromise somewhere, in this case wheels, brakes, tires, but overall, excellent for the sale price. Only complaint was a light flaw in the clear coat paint on the top tube, and a missing front derailer locking nut, which I had a spare. Very striking paint job, 105 where it counts!

Has the feel of sweetness on the roll, could have had better instructions. First bike in 20 years, so a refreshing upgrade! Some of the lamanent looks loose in the fibers. Other than that, great bike that I will adapt to. Good price...

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

I have a 2009 Fuji Supreme SL, and needed a second bike for our vacation spot 2.5K miles away, so wanted to experience the same fit without the high price tag. This bike was a STEAL, 2010 full carbon, and although it's not 15# like my SL, it's still respectable at just under 20# fully loaded with water and tools. Had the chance to ride it once already and it's a decent climber, super comfortable geometry for the longer rides, but sporty enough to race. Rolls solid at 30+mph on the downhills (brakes applied).

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

Update, as another reviewer mentioned, altho an older model the SL1 has a neutral, stable ride. I called it sweet when new. Still is, but let me say this, the frame is saddled down with heavy tires and the wheelset. If you can see your way clear to folding tires, latex tubes/Stans tubeless, and a pair of Alpha 340/400 or Easton SLX's,what a machine you will ride. Rotating weight is so important and this frame comes alive when set up this way. My smiles continue to grow and I look forward to every ride.

Just one month riding this beauty and I couldn't be happier. It's an old Fuji model (2010) but the technical features and the price are more than right. I feel well mounted when on the road. Actually, I could see how other riders appreciate the bike. Riding performance couldn't be better. I'm cutting more than 30 minutes (approx. ten miles) from my old 40 miles ride.

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

Very nice ride and super support from Nashbar, rear hub had an issue. I'm 5 7 and the small works for me, I'm long in the torso with a 29/30 inseam. All is good even in stock form with seat all the way back, and the handlebar stem could easily be lengthened if I so desire but certainly not now. Factory stem is short. Live at 4000 ft with hills so the compact ring is ideal. Hard to find fault in any area, you can't go wrong with this choice.

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

I had previously owned an old Trek 2200 that had developed a crack on the front fork. I suddenly needed a new road bike and wanted a quality Carbon bike that was not going to cost a lot. Did some research and found that the Fuji SL1 Comp was rated pretty good. It was by far the lowest priced carbon bike with 105's. I have never bought any bike online and was a little skeptical since I had never riden it or had it sized to me. I researched the measurements compared to my old bike and they were pretty close (even though my last bike was 54cm. I decided that the 50cm (medium) was the right sized for me (I'm 5' 7").

I have owned the bike for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. I had a Fuji dealer assemble it and the bike is sized just right. It handles and rides great and I am so glad that I bought it at 20% the listed price too! It was less expensive than my previous bike and I couldn't believe how much carbon rides better than aluminum.

I found the bike is very responsive and it actually took a couple of rides to get used to it. I don't find the seat uncomfortable as other reviews, but maybe I just have had bad seats. If you do decide to purchase the Fuji SL1, and had an aluminum road bike before, you should be very happy with it.

Comments about Fuji SL-1 Comp LE Road Bike:

At the Nashbar list, this is a very good deal. For 20% off that price (with a Nashbar coupon code), this was an unbelievable deal. Or to put it another way, for about a cyclist on a budget, this bike is about as compromise-free a purchase as I can imagine.

Only quibbles I can raise are the boat-anchor-heavy fork, and dubious crankset choice. But I guess Fuji needed to price these '11 model year remainders to sell, so out they went with the sturdy FC-770 AL steerer bonded fork, and a FSA Vero crank, which they set on a square-taper BB... No bother; parts wear out. And when they do, I saved enough money on this purchase to upgrade the components that I don't particularly fancy. But the 105 components ride great--smoother and quieter than my 2005-vintage 7800 DA gear. And the frame, though made of Fuji's slightly heavier C4 carbon, is a real keeper.

I realize that the Fuji brand has gone through several different ownerships, but somehow they have managed to retain their neutral ride characteristics.(This I attribute to Fuji still being a developer, rather than just a packager...) In just a few short rides, the bike has revealed itself to soak up pavement irregularities, track stably on descents, climb nimbly, and handle predictably, if not at times brilliantly. I've only had it a few days, but this is the first bike I've owned in quite a while that makes me dread the end of a ride. Also, for some reason (psychology?), Fujis just seem to fit me better than other brands.

Lastly, because it's a Fuji, and not a brand that's mainly sold by online discounters, I can bring this bike to a LBS if its in need of serious repair. Cheesy as it sounds, this is nevertheless important, as I do 80-90% of my own wrenching at home, but there are some tasks that I cannot perform as well as a professional mechanic, or for which I cannot justify the purchase of costly, single purpose tools.
