Another reviewer had complained about a fragile USB Connector on the light, so I was a little cautious about connecting to recharge so that I might avoid a similar fate. But all the caution in the world will not eliminate a fundamental design flaw - and it's a shame because it really is a great light otherwise. Very bright light with excellent dispersion allows for confidence at speed when the sun goes down. Also, great battery life even at full power. But, when charging it for approximately the 4th time I noticed that the indicator light seemed to go out prematurely. After examination, I found the aforementioned USB connector had completely broken off the internal circuit board. It was also obvious that there is no mechanical support for the connector as designed with the exception of two very small dabs of solder. The mechanical lever created by the charging cable simply creates too much force for the joint to withstand. I believe this is the likely failure mode for most of these lights. Reinforce the connector like what is done on most cell phones and the light is a winner. I was swayed by the specs and cost/value, and took a chance. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Final score - Moon sport 1, me 0.

If you are looking for something to light the night up, this is your light. Very bright at it's highest setting with a great spread. Four settings so you can set a brightness level that works best. Comments back from riding buddies is that you look like a motorcycle coming. I've used it on country D&G rides where no other light is available and no issues with seeing what is in front or to the immediate sides. I haven't done a ride over two hours yet but at high setting it was still as bright on that 2 hour ride. Two things lacking keep this from being a five. Very heavy so on the helmet you know it's there. The other is that there is no flash setting. Wear a lighter unit on the noggin with a flash (I use the Cygolite Metro) and buy this baby for your handlebars. At the price there are none better.
