Comments about Shimano Ultegra SM-BBR60 Bottom Bracket:

I have decided to convert a classic "Mondia Criterium"
frame bicycle from standard to compact cranks. The old
campagolo bottom bracket removed was (35x1) neither
Italian nor English. I called Nashbar, Performancebike,
and Shimano. None of them had a solution. Phil Wood
set they had such item, but out of stock. I was looking
the removed bracket, and it looked similar to the
Shimano BBR60. I tried the right treaded bracket and
to my amazement it treaded into the bottom shell.
So I went to get a second set of BBR60, and by using the right treaded bearing complited the installation.

Comments about Shimano Ultegra SM-BBR60 Bottom Bracket:

The bottom bracket is very nice, it's lightweight and will serve it's purpose. The tool sent with the bottom bracket is a piece of garbage. I tried to use it with my hollowtech 2 socket to torque and the inside splines, the ones that go on the bottom bracket stripped befor reaching desired torque. So be aware of this if you like to torque stuff to specs.

Costs a little more than Ultegra don't know yet if it is worth it. Certainly light and smooth after 1,000 miles.

Comments about Shimano Ultegra SM-BBR60 Bottom Bracket:

Significant upgrade to my bicycle's OEM bottom bracket. Was disappointed to learn that the Nashbar bottom bracket tool which I purchased just to remove the OEM B.B. and to install this Ultegra version, would not fit the latter even by using the included adapter ring. The description for the Nashbar Integrated Bottom Bracket Cup Bit needs to be upgraded.

Comments about Shimano Ultegra SM-BBR60 Bottom Bracket:

I have used this bottom bracket on my fixed gear test bed for components all winter here in the rainy Pacific NW. After the first 12,000 km, the bearings are still snug. In my opinion, Hollowtech II is the best, most simple bottom bracket design ever developed. No square tapers to wear out, removable with just a couple of allen keys, low cost for the simple threaded bottom bracket cups, and very durable. In fact, the Ultegra bb unit has outlasted the previous Dura Ace Hollowtech bottom bracket.

Easy to install. Less friction than the original BB on my Trek 2.1. Quiet and smooth. A nice upgrade over Trek original spec.
