While it's traditional for Shimano to "trickle down" technology from its flagship Dura-Ace 9000 groupset into Ultegra, the Ultegra 6800 11-speed Compact Crankset received an absolute deluge of features Shimano's rock star line this go round. Like Dura-Ace, the Ultegra 6800 crankset has moved from a five-arm to a four-arm design which reduces weight without sacrificing one iota of strength and stiffness. Not only that, but the bolt circle diameter is now identical for compact as well as standard size chainrings meaning one set of crank arms can do it all - just swap out chainrings to mix things up instead of having to splurge on an entire new crankset. There's a hatful of hollow throughout this crankset as well - as in Hollowtech, Hollowtech II, and Hollowglide that all contribute to reduced weight and maximal stiffness. There's Hollowtech crank arms, a Hollowtech II bottom bracket spindle, plus Hollowglide outer chainring to deliver pro-level performance (seriously - the eagle-eyed pro cycling fan can spot Ultegra 11-speed components racing and winning at the highest levels).
This version of the Ultegra 6800 11-speed crankset features a compact 50/34T chainring set-up which is ideal for those seeking a wide range of gearing without the added weight of a triple drivetrain.
