CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight
If your commute or midnight trail-nanigans warrant a long-lasting, ultra-bright LED headlight, have a look at the Cygolite Expilion 680 cycling headlight. At 680 lumens, you can pretty much blind oncoming traffic, but since you have 8 modes, you can tone it down around town and save the pyro show for when you are bombing down a deep forest single track on an after-dark session. For all its muscle, Expilion 680 weighs only 140g, and its hi powered lithium-ion battery holds a charge for a ridiculously long time.
  • Features 8 Lighting Modes: (5 brightness and 3 special) Medium, High, Boost, Low, 2-in-1 SteadyPulse, Day Flash, Walk, and SOS
  • 2-in-1 SteadyPulse illumination combines steady brightness to see by and an alerting flash to be seen
  • Smart charging via USB port and wall outlet
  • Quick-release Li-ion battery stick is easy to swap-on-the-fly
  • Item includes headlight unit, battery stick, USB wall charger, USB charge cable and handlebar mount
  • Run Time is a whopping 22 Hours

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

i like this light its very bright and not bulky style so it looks good on the bike too and it seems to have a good durability as far as the material and the quality. the only down grade its just taking kind of long to charge it or otherwise I'll give it a 5 stars, as far as the battery lasting I really don't know it yet since i only use it for 1 hour at a time...hopefully the battery will last...???.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

This light is bright enough but still lightweight enough to use on the trail as a helmet light(1 hour or so). On the road it's great too, just can't leave it on the brighest setting on longer rides (2.5 - 3 hours). Even so, the power button will flash, and I just drop it down to a lower setting. Just got another for the wife. Tonight is her first nighttime trail ride. Fun!!

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

I use this light (mine is the Expillion 700) with my Exposure Diablo road cycling thru the winter. The Expillion provides a nice narrow beam for down-road illumination and the diablo for backup and peripheral illumination. I wish the removable battery had a more positive engagement, it's easy to turn the battery loose while handling the light.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

I have the 350 lumens version but the design is virtually the same-they look identical. It's plenty bright even on the darkest roads but the design of the actual light is subpar. The big, squishy button is difficult to push with gloves on and it always bumps into something and turns on when I put the light in my backpack while not in use.

After four months of use the button stopped working and the light kept getting stuck on various settings. Having it stuck on strobe while riding through a residential area in 15 degree weather is not fun. for the $60 I paid for the 350 lumens version, I expected better.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

I like the blink function. It uses less electricity, warns motorists that I am there, and still lights my way.

I have read comments about the orientation of the handle bar mount pointing the wrong way. This is totally flexible. Just unscrew the cradle until it turns, turn it around, and tighten the screw. Now the mount can be adjusted from the back of the handle bars rather than the front.

The battery can be removed and replaced with a fresh one on the fly, so running out of light is not a problem.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

I intend to use this light on a mountain biking trip through the Rockies and also while touring cross-country. I've had the light in the woods on a trail and it is much brighter than a hunting light that is rated at 388 meters with 134 lumens. One feature that would have been nice to have would be an adjustable beam from spot to flood. Also, the dust cover for the USB plug seems flimsy and it will not endure too much use. Otherwise, it seems to be a very good light.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

This light is rechargable and has a low charge warning. I can detect the flashing 100 feet away off of parked cars, street signs, and traffic signs in broad daylight. It mounts and removes easily. It is pricey so you might want to remove it when parked. I have owned this light for a week and I really like it.

As they have come out I've ugraded from the 180 lumen to 250 lumen to 350 lumen and finally to my current 680 lumen. I've been very satisfied with Cygolite and will continue to purshe them until they give me reason not to.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

Light is fantastic, easy to use and has so many settings which makes it easy to conserve the battery. Wish it came with helmet attachment. I use this 95% off-road. Clamp stays tight unless your really bombing on rough trails.
            Great light!!
Only issue as stated by other reviewer, USB cover is flimsy little rubber cover that doesn't stay on the USB port and prob. won't last long.

            Would buy again and recommend.

Comments about CygoLite Expilion 680 Headlight:

I have used this for a year now and have had no problems. It is very bright with day and night flashing and constant modes. The day flash mode is bright enough that a driver stated he saw me coming from two miles away and wanted to know what kind of light I was using. The night flash mode is just as bright with the light is on more than off allowing you to clearly see the road while alerting motorists. It also has numerous constant light levels. It detaches easily so that you can use it as a flashlight. The connection clamp accommodates varying handlebar diameters. Finally, the internal battery charges via a USB connection. The only negative I have is the rubber USB dust cover which broke off soon after I purchased it.
