Hutchinson Cougar 29x2.2 Mountain Bike Tire
Wiley, fast, ready to pounce...that's the Hutchinson Cougar 29er Mountain Bike Tire. A 2.2" width is great for XC and all-mountain riding, giving you a little extra tread on the ground without weighing you down. A 66 TPI folding bead is soft and durable...keeps you on the trail with mud shedding knobs spaced perfectly and a little bigger on the lateral edge for super cornering.
  • 66 TPI is supple and strong and can run at lower pressures
  • Knobs designed for versatility, mud shedding, climbing, and cornering
  • Race Riposte rubber is tech marvel in durability and damage resistance

Comments about Hutchinson Cougar 29x2.2 Mountain Bike Tire:

Seem to hook up in NH style greesy single track corner well in the kiddy litter they move through most chundery sections pretty well hard braking out of tight corners in hard pack seem to track well and seem to keep pretty good momentum on class 5 dirt roads I have had good luck with the front mounting it up tuneless on stand flow rims rear has Ben a pain will not hold a bead let go 2 once on the trail and once while showing the owner of the bike shop in town about tubeless set up while holding it at face levell, pretty funny just not at the time anyways running it with a tube no problems with about 100 miles or so on them tred seem to be holding up as well as the sidewalls for the price not a bad deal

Comments about Hutchinson Cougar 29x2.2 Mountain Bike Tire:

So I just put the tire on the bike. Similarly to the other reviewer I noticed the tire is about the same size as the 2.0 which i am replacing. I guess I should've read previous reviews thoroughly before purchasing. I will give it a test ride on the trails this weekend. So far just for the price and overall aggressive thread which i was looking for i'll give it a 4 star.

Comments about Hutchinson Cougar 29x2.2 Mountain Bike Tire:

My Scott Spark came with Rocket Ron Schwalbes which I really like as a front tire but I needed more traction in the back and didn't want to add a lot of weight and rolling resistance. This tire filled the bill. I've only put 30 miles on it so far. In that time I made rocky and root filled climbs that I never made with the Schwalbes. The rubber is fairly soft so I don't expect to get a lot of mileage out of it but that is fine by me because this thing sticks to the trail like chiggers to socks.

Comments about Hutchinson Cougar 29x2.2 Mountain Bike Tire:

I bought this tire to go a bit wider in the rear. I had a 2.0 bontrager and wanted more traction. This tire ended up the exact same width as the previous tire. Even the guys at the shop thought it was a 2.0 that was labelled 2.2. As for the ride it has been good and durable, but I will be replacing it with something wider for more stopping power.
