Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

I have used a Lake shoe before but this model runs slightly bigger. I ordered it mainly to use for commuting and it'll do its job okay for that but it would not be my choice of shoes to wear on the weekend/longer rides. I find the shoe little clunky and the leather (faux) is rather unattractive. As of now the BOA system works well but I'm afraid having just one dial system in the back will end up putting too much strain in the future. Hope it holds up long enough.

Not super light weight for a carbon shoe, but good enough. The boa system is great and easy to adjust while on the bike. Bottom get scratched easily, but I think thats true for all carbon shoes.

was looking for a racing shoe with stiff sole, comfortable fit and light weight. these meet all of those requirements. definitely the best shoes I have used. they run a size big as said before I am a size 9 and the 42 fits perfect. nice wide fit around toes and the boa lacing is unique and effective. I love genuine leather for the feel and will aim to ride these in dry weather. got them for a great deal at NB which helps as I would not be able to justify full price.

My first pair of "top-end shoes" and they didn't disappoint! Rode 45 miles on the first day I used them & were comfortable, light and fit well.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Notes on size: My feet measure 263.5 and 266.5mm long and 105 and 103mm wide, respectively. According to Lake's own sizing chart, I should order a 42.5. Half sizes not being available, I ordered a 43. Much too long! I returned them and the 42 is a perfect fit. Toe area is still roomy, but I'm not swimming in them.

Notes on the shoe: Very high but not top quality construction. Leather is soft and well vented. The carbon sole is very stiff but not extremely so. At any rate it is a very noticeable difference from the plastic soles I had been training with. The insole is plain, but I don't like a lot of topography on my insole. The Boa enclosure adjusts very well. It tightens the forefoot and the opening evenly--- a pro in my book, YMMV. The "powerzone" lace routing is a nice option (search it for a better explanation), but makes taking the shoe off a bit of a struggle. A featherweight compared to some competitors at this price. Cleat positioning is easy with plenty of markings on the bottom. Overall, at this price, the shoe cannot be beat. WARNING NOTE: THESE SHOES ARE VERY SLIPPERY ON ALL SURFACES, so scuff up the pads.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Disclaimer: these replaced some two-strap mountain SPDs on my road bike, so I don't have a lot of experience with high-end road shoes. That said...

These are nice, light and stiff! I think of them like race ski boots. They are not meant for comfort, but you can easily get them nice and tight on your feet and they don't budge!

Definitely not comfort-oriented, although TBH I have so far been riding with them pretty tight on my feet, hoping they will break in after some time. I think if I didn't crank them down so hard they would still be stiffer & shift less under hard pedaling than my old shoes and be just find comfort-wise. But I like to ride pretty hard so...

Size-wise, I'm somewhere around a mens' US 11.5 depending on the brand and my feet are a bit wide, esp up front. I've had issues with some brands of running shoes being too narrow either in the toe box or the arch. These were plenty wide all around! No issue whatsoever. The size 45.0 fit me perfectly.

Quality-wise seems like these can't be beat- carbon sole & all leather upper, super nice!

Only downside might be that b/c of the stiffness, they are definitely meant for performance, not a comfort-oriented shoe.

Comments about Lake CX236 Carbon Road Shoes:

Ordered a half size small, and the fit is perfect. I think a bit of snugness in the heel may be given up by the placement of the boa wheel, but it is in a great place to click in while riding. I definitely recommend these shoes, especially at this price.
