Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire
The Michelin Krylion Carbon road tire is an extremely durable clincher, yet retains a superb ride quality. The key to its durability is its thicker center tread. It's reinforced with carbon, which gives you 30% more tread life, so it's not unusual to get thousands of miles on these great all-around tires. Ideal for racing or long-distance training, these tires also deliver a superb grip in wet or dry conditions and are highly resistant to cuts and punctures. They feel sublime, as well, out on the road due to the 127 TPI casing which creates an extra supple ride.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

These tires are not the lightest or fastest. With that said, if you are tired of flats on a casual ride and wouldn't mind a smoother rolling this is the way to go. They're simply awesome for the days when you you just want to take it easy and enjoy the ride.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

These tires wear like steel. I get more miles out of a set of these than any other tires costing twice the price. I have two bikes and can mount them on either bike without the need of tools, which is a big plus for me. I ride in south, central PA and we have a lot of tar and chip roads and roadside trash to contend with. I find I get far fewer flats with these than with all other tires I've tried. Only wish Nasbar would offer them in 25 which are a little more comfortable than the 23 and you don't lose that much performance. The're lighter tires out there but if you are looking for a good all around training tire, these are hard to beat..

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I put 100-150/week and these tires are the only concession I make on adding any weight that I don't have to. They are relatively heavy but when you can usually ride these things for 2,500-3,000 miles without a single flat (I change them before I get a flat) it's totally worth it. Nothing is worse than Having a blow out coming down a hill or in traffic. I'm not saying you'll never get a flat but these things ride pretty well and I've never had problems with the tire. I heard they're not making it and the pro 4 is replacing it which weighs 20-30 grams less. I'm want to try it but it's hard to switch after having such good luck for thousands and thousands of miles. I'm definitely partial to these tires! The red wall goes great with my black with red accent bike

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I'm very glad Michelin brought this one back after it was discontinued. It's always been the best all-around tire for durability, speed and comfort. I'm on the 3rd set and ride some pretty rough roads. The Krylions have rolled on with no flats and a smooth, stable feel. The rear will wear out sooner than the front by a 2 to 1 ratio so I like keep an extra to replace that one. Now that Nashbar carries these again, there's no reason not to keep doing the same, especially for the price.

I'm a 220lb rider and appreciate the toughness of this tire. Every bump, shard, nail is forced against my tires more than average rider. These tires are NOT heavy, and they have protected tubes wonderfully. Tried Gatorskin and extra weight and width was not as good as Krylon. Full recommendation - especially if heavy rider.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I just bought a replacement set of these kryleon tires. I've put probably at least 2,000 miles on my first pair but cooked my rear tire as it wasn't clamped as tight to my trainer as it should have been so I wanted to replace. These tires are not the lightest things around but I have literally not had a flat tire in 2,000 miles. That's never happened to me before. They are 40 grams hearier than the lightest things on the market but I've had to change a dozen tires before during a ride (with minimally lighter tires) and I'll take that trade every time. I just bought another back up set as these tires with the Nashbar sale are an absolute no-brainer. I love the color scheme and get compliments on my bike with these tires. They handle really well and I've hit bolts, glass, sharp rocks, grates etc.. And they just keep going.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

For my first ride on these tires, I pumped to 82 psi, per the weight chart that came with the tires. They decended comfortably off of Trail Ridge road, but my friends waited for me for a while. I now ride them at 100 psi, they are much faster and still comfortable.

They are super easy to put on.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I was a little nervous when I saw that the maximum tire pressure is 109, when it was 125 for my previous tire (the one that came with the Specialized Ruby). But, my first ride was great - I couldn't tell any difference with the tire pumped to 109, and I rode at my usual pace without difficulty.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I only have put about 100 miles on them but I've experienced running through broken glass and never got a flat. I ride roads that you are dodging debris in the bike path. I sometimes have got to ride sidewalks because of no shoulders. I bike in N. Ft Myers in the winter. Because of the open container law, everyone throws their bottles out on the streets and sidewalks. This tire seems to hold up under these circumstances well.
