Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III Tire
Lots of pros choose Vittoria tires for a reason, and one reason is the Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III. This is a go-to training tire for the all-round serious rider or racer, especially designed to grip surfaces in foul weather. Pro Tech technology adds a Mithril protection barrier for serious sidewall strength, Aquagrip rubber compound does just what it sounds like it does, and an added puncture resistant barrier (PRB) beneath the center tread not only is flat resistant, but lowers rolling resistance in a big way.
  • Excellent foul weather technology
  • Great tire for all-weather training, or racing on rougher roads in foul weather
  • Pro Tech Mithril barrier strengthens sidewall

What an amazing deal. I took a chance on these tires and now I think I have a new favorite. Smooth rolling but with a strong tread on the edges. This is a fantastic all-around road tire

Comments about Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III Tire:

Great tires as I've used the Rubino Pros for years with no flats. The Pro Tech are very similiar to regular Rubinos. Bought these for a commuter bike hoping to get something fat for bad pavement so I went with 700x28c. These tires only measure 25mm across so are ACTUALLY 700x25C tires!

      Good News or Bad News?

Comments about Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III Tire:

Depending on how you look at things, this could be either good news or bad news. I think these are great tires. Very supple sidewall insures easy on & easy off. Good traction & they seem to be pretty flat resistant too. Of course…I do NOT ride close to a debris filled curb either.

So what's the bad news? It's a discontinued tire. I got that straight from the horse's mouth. A tire dealer was at my local bike recently, so I asked him about the tires. From time-to-time tire companies will change tread design or rubber compounds.

So…if you don't mind a closeout sale, go for it. Look at the price! It's already about half the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Now toss in occasional sales from Nashbar at 20% to 25% off making it an ever bigger bargain. I can't really comment on longevity as these have only been on my bike about 400 miles. But the last set of Vittoria Rubino Pro tires (one step lower) lasted about 2,600 miles.

Comments about Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III Tire:

I use these on my commuter/shopping bike, and throw them on my road bike for touring and winter training rides.
these are the best overall tires I have used.
There are better racing tires, but these are great for all other uses; and can be raced.
I use both the 25's and 28's; with the 28's being better for most of my uses. I have used 23 and 25s and they are all good.

I didn't get to use them much because I was hit by a car. Hit and run. But they stuck nice to the roads. My bike was totaled and I lived to bike another day. I will buy a new set when my new bike comes in. Buy a good helmet, it may save your life.

Comments about Vittoria Rubino Pro-Tech III Tire:

My only issue is not with the tires themselves, but the packing of them. The were in a bag and it was totally roughed up when it arrived. I understand the need to save on shipping costs but one of the tires could have easily been damaged. Luckily they were not. I commute to work through a not so great road, plenty of glass and rough patches, and also go for longer rides on the weekends. No flats yet, and the tires feel great on the road. Would definitely buy again, and recommend to anyone.
