2-piece glove construction provides amazing insulating effect
Arctic Barrier 2.0 outer glove is impervious to freezing winds
Polar fabric on Liner gives uncompromising warmth and protection
First let me state it is September 5 and hot. I bought these for autumn/spring cold weather rides. So I cannot fairly comment on how *well* they protect my fingers (hence 4 stars instead of 5). I will comment on what I see beyond the description and the specs at Nashbar.
They appear to be well made with consistent, quality stitching and fabric. They are soft (I do NOT mean they are not durable) and light weight.
The glove liner is 5 fingered and is elasticized at the wrist to keep out the cold. The liner can be worn as a light weight glove for cool weather riding.
The outer glove has padding at the palm, but it is skimpy when compared to summer cycling gloves. Immediately below the base of the fingers and extending to the palm over the padding, the gloves are thicker for durability and consequently that adds padding. The entire palm side of the glove has a heavier fabric than the rest opposite side, more like leather than nylon, for durability. The gloves have a clip to be used to keep glove together when not in use.
The index finger fabric of both pieces enables use of touch screens. In cool weather the inner liner as a glove will protect, and in cold weather both pieces will protect; of course at some temperature the outer glove can be worn without the inner -> flexibility. The side opposite the palm has a stylish reflective stripe.
The wrist of the outer glove, in addition to having a velcro closure, has a bit of elasticity. The wrist extends low enough to scoot into a jacket, however the closure has enough reach to close around the inner glove and probably a jacket sleeve.
They look great -- I hope they as warm, too.
