Louis Garneau Wind Protect Gloves

These Louis Garneau wind protect gloves were specially designed for us at Nashbar and are the ultimate cold weather cycling glove. With a microfleece lining inside a lightweight, breathable Wind Tex shell, these gloves are not only cozy on the inside, but waterproof and windproof on the outside. And your hands can breathe partly because of the Wind Tex fabric properties, and partly because of the Ergo Air ventilation system, which is a small, nylon mesh window in the palm of your hand, shielded from the wind, letting moisture escape without letting cold air in. The extended Lycra cuffs provide a snug, warm barrier against the cold and won't allow any cold air in at the wrist.

The Louis Garneau wind protect gloves also feature flexible knuckles and fingers for maximum control of your bicycle. The areas use laminated Stopzone Lycra fabric, a nylon and spandex blend, covered with a honeycombed micro-pore coating, allowing flexibility, breathability, water and wind resistance, and durability that can handle the occasional crash or trip through the washing machine. The fleece microfiber thumb patch absorbs sweat and whatever else pours off your face, and you'll never lose your grip thanks to the lightly padded black amara palm, which is durable and sticky, even when wet. The gloves also feature reflective elements that will be seen in low-light situations to help keep you safe at night. The Louis Garneau wind protect gloves will keep your hands warm and dry and are recommended for temperatures between 35 and 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Features:

  • Windproof and waterproof Wind Tex fabric keeps cold air and water out
  • Lightly padded, durable palm to absorb impact in case of a collision; Ergo Air palm vent for breathability

  • Fleece microfiber thumb to wipe away sweat
  • Lycra cuffs provide a snug, warm barrier against the cold and won't allow any cold air in at the wrist

Comments about Louis Garneau Wind Protect Gloves:

I'm totally disappointed with these gloves. They look good but don't be deceived. These gloves are so bad it's not even funny. I gave it two stars on an original review that never got posted, but if I had to give it no stars, I would. Why are these gloves so bad? Here are my points:
    1) the gloves have absolutely NO grips. These are the most slippery pair of gloves I've ever worn. Your hands and fingers will slip anything that is smooth! It's even slippery when rubbing on it's own materials on finger.
    2) The fingers are totally too long to fit my fingers properly. I have a small hand so I bought the small glove. The plam fits nicely, but the fingers are like a quarter of an inch (half a centimeter) too long for all fingers. All my other gloves are only slightly long on the index finger. Slightly long means about 2-3 millimeters. But these gloves are so long in the fingers and they're slippery means they're just badly constructed by design.
    3) The final worst thing this glove has is those stupid plastic clips that hold the gloves together so you won't lose one glove. They're located in one of the worse location possible for a pair of cycling gloves - right near the bottom of the thumb at the top of the terry-cloth where you normally wipe sweat off your face or forehead. The other clip is located on the other side near the meatiest part of you palm. Check out the images and you'll know what I mean!

In short - this is the worse glove designed and constructed and I DO NOT recommend this for anybody looking for a full finger glove to ride in cooler temperature weather.

Comments about Louis Garneau Wind Protect Gloves:

I bought these in a med ( I am normally a med in all gloves) but found the fingers a little long, and would get caught in my STI shifters. So ordered the smalls and although a tiny bit snug, have worked out great and couldn't be happier.
Hard to recommend a size, but the glove is very good, used it on a 80 mile ride and the temp started at 30degrees, ended at 45degrees, and these worked very well for me :)

I start out fall with a thin leather pair with Thinsulate that have a high wrist, as temps dip below 30 I slip the 2nd pair on and they are perfect down to below zero and I have a special pair for that too!

they work great I used them on a ride today and my hands were very warm, and good control of the bars and levers while you ride.

50 plus degrees today, but i also purchased canary grip liners this way I can go deeper into the winter months.

but once the trails are snow covered I take my workouts indoors.

Comments about Louis Garneau Wind Protect Gloves:

Like many gloves from Asia, these run small. Tight gloves tend not to be warm gloves. They resist wind well enough, but aren't particularly warm.

Comments about Louis Garneau Wind Protect Gloves:

Good windstopping but not super-insulated. I wore them today and it was about 30 degrees with bright sun. Had it been cloudy/windy or a degree or two colder, and these would not have cut it. As it was, I stayed out for about 1.75 hours and it was tolerable. 35 - 50 degrees is more ideal for this glove.
