Schwinn Slicker Bike
Roll with style for miles on the Schwinn Slicker, the perfect option for all your commuting, neighborhood or fitness needs. First off, it features a Reynolds 520 chromoly steel frame and fork resulting in a competitively light frame that rolls as smooth as silk due to the exquisite ride quality of steel. Though it has the great style and simplicity of a single speed bike, there's so much more at play. The Slicker stays true to its urban inspiration, featuring a single chainring plus a mountain bike handlebar with 20mm of rise, but features a 9-speed Shimano drivetrain for more practical use. Every shift is smooth and effortless with the Shimano Alivio 9-speed shifter while a Deore rear derailleur was chosen for superb reliability and longevity in an urban environment. A single alloy 46-tooth chainring and 11-28 cassette ratio give you an ample gearing range to tackle both uphills and descents. Ride in luxury all day long thanks to the Schwinn sport grips and a comfort saddle that are the perfect recipe to alleviate chafing or soreness.

Comments about Schwinn Cycling & Fitness Schwinn Slicker Bike:

Great Florida Bike - the 46 x 11-28 gearing meets the requirements of any incline I face in a 30 mile radius. The indexing is smooth to the point of automatic. When crossing railroad tracks and other rough spots the steel frame shines - much smoother than my vintage Italian road frame. I like this bike and it suits my casual/grocery getting needs perfectly.

Comments about Schwinn Cycling & Fitness Schwinn Slicker Bike:

I bought this bike during a Nashbar 20% off sale, so it was a great price at under $400 including tax and shipping. I set it up tonight and took it for just a short ride around my neighborhood. I haven't had enough time on it to give it a full review, but I will comment on the things I have seen:

The box arrived in great condition. The back wheel, rear brake, and derailer were already installed. I had to install the front wheel, handlebars, seat, pedals, and front brake. The bike doesn't come with instructions other than a very generic "Schwinn Road Bike Manual". If you're not familiar with bikes this may make it a little tough to put together, but I was able to do it in about 1.5 hours and I'm by no means a bike expert. I have been commuting about 1.5 miles each way on a mountain bike for 2 years. I took this bike out on basically the same ride today and felt like I was going about 5 mph faster than normal. It is very smooth and the gear changes worked flawlessly. It is by no means light, but it isn't overly heavy either. I think this bike will work very well for my daily commute. I'm 6'1" and ordered the large size and it fits perfectly. An added bonus is that the front chainring has a built in chain guard so that your pant legs won't get caught when you pedal.
