Nashbar FR1 Saddle
Updated for 2015 with a new, exquisitely smooth synthetic leather cover, the Nashbar FR1 saddle remains as ever a remarkable value. Featuring a central cutout and channel, the FR1 delivers a comfortable ride no matter how many hours you spend in the saddle. This lightweight saddle is great for training, racing or just cruising in the pace line on a club ride.
  • Supportive foam padding provides exceptional comfort
  • Deep central channel and an anatomic cutout help relieve pressure and prevent soft tissue compression
  • Synthetic leather cover is durable and waterproof
  • Titanium alloy rails are lightweight and extremely strong

I bought one for my mountain bike commute and a year later bought another one to replace a stock Specialized saddle - no regrets, very happy with the feel. Put on 200+ mi on this saddle with no issues

      Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

Borrowed from a friend before purchasing. By far the best saddle I have tried to date. Worked fantastic for my TT bike, so I ordered a second for my road bike. No numbness or discomfort. I like the large cutout and somewhat minimal cushioning. There may be better saddles out there ($$), but for me this saddle performs great. Highly satisfied!

        Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

My Selle San Marcos saddle had seen better days and I needed an economical replacement. After reading the reviews for the FR-1 I thought I would give it a shot. It far surpassed my expectations. No chafing or numbness after several 20+ mile rides.

        Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

Protects against the kind of long term, progressive damage (prostate and penile) that older riders frequently suffer from. When you're young you don't see the reason for this saddle. When you're older you realize why you should have used one from the very beginning.

              Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

Most of the reviews for this saddle are positive. When I see a single negative review, it makes me wonder about the writer. I have literally put thousands of miles on this saddle, even rode across Indiana, 8 hrs of saddle time, and no soreness. It's simple. Buy it, try it. If you don't like it, return it. Quit whining and keep climbing.

                Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

I originally bought this saddle for my Road Bike and found it to be a good fit. I liked it enough that I replaced the saddle on my Touring Bike with the same type. A very good saddle for Road Cycling at a fast pace, also very good/comfortable saddle for long Touring rides of multiple weeks.

Just as comfy as my expensive Brooks Swallow.

                  Comments about Nashbar FR1 Saddle:

Made by Velo for Nashbar. It's Velo's model VL-2107 but this Nashbar version is lighter with the Ti rails and nicer with a smooth faux leather that allows me to slide around and change positions easier. Mine weighed 241g. Besides the large cutout, the saddle is also slightly concave from rear to nose which alleviates perineal pressure. I've done long rides (100 milers) with no issues. However, my sit bones are right on the outer edges. Wish they made a slightly wider (~143+) version for my sit bones but I can't complain too much since this saddle works for me.
