Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I wanted to use these shoes with toe clips & straps on my 35-year-old touring bicycle. But like every other shoe I could find, these are too wide for my foot angle and narrow quill pedals. Long story short, I bought my first pair of SPD clipless pedals and put cleats on my new Rumble VRs.

The shoes work well. The sizing is accurate. The toebox is decidedly roomy, which took a little getting used to. Now I like it. Traction is very good when I put a foot down. The Vibram soles are plenty stiff for touring and commuting, yet walking is very comfortable. Comfort while riding is good.

So far (450 miles), the cleat has stayed in place without any sign of loosening or shifting. My old pair of biking shoes was lighter, but the Rumble VRs feel light enough in use. And so far, the shoes show practically no sign of wear.

The shoe laces are thick and of high quality. They maintain whatever degree of tension you put on them; they hold a knot very well; and the length is just right. The orange color--sorry: the "glowing red" color--wouldn't have been my first choice, but I decided I can stand the color enough to keep the original laces. One mildly annoying cost-cutting move: of the shoe's seven pairs of holes for the laces, only the top three have grommets.

Apart from the laces, the shoes look plain, understated, not at all sexy or visually high-tech. That's fine with me.

I haven't worn these shoes in the rain yet or in cold weather, and I haven't gone on any really long rides (more than 50 miles in a day). For the riding I HAVE been doing, the shoes have been fine.

I still have a slight preference for toe clips over clipless. People with straighter feet and/or wider pedals than mine could use these shoes with clips.

I purchased a size 44 according to the sizing chart. I wear a 10 1/2 shoe, I could not get my foot into the shoe without feeling like I was in maybe a size 43. They were also to narrow for my foot.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I was surprised how comfortable these shoes are. The shank is firm, they clip easily in and out of my SPD pedals, and walking in them is very comfortable. I don't notice them while riding nor walking. They're well made and well vented. I need a longer ride to fully test them but for now, I'm really happy with these shoes and would recommend them for the touring/recreational rider.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I bought these just before a 6 day, 300 mile, solo bike tour across S. Carolina. They are exactly what I was looking for and so much more comfortable and versatile than the more expensive road shoes that your local bike store wants to sell you. All I did to get them tuned in was wear them around the house, change the laces, and adjust the SPD cleats a couple times.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I agree that this shoe has a generous toe box. I was afraid that 48 would be too small - I have some Giro road shoes for which I needed 49 - but the fit of the Rumble VR is great - feels tailored.

I have never had a flexible sole in a cycling shoe before and I am very pleased. It's 100x better to walk in and it doesn't really bother me on the bike. I'm sure I'm losing some efficiency, but I don't notice it. When I'm out and about I'm usually riding a vintage clunker, anyway, so I'm not sure how much I even care about efficiency.

I put black laces in these shoes and now I can wear them anywhere I can wear all black New Balance - which is pretty much anywhere for me.

BTW my wife has a shoe she loves - Petra VR - that is VERY similar. I didn't realize until we were riding together but it's almost the same shoe. We each arrived at our choices and conclusions independently and we both love these shoes.

I got them on sale and the value was great. If they go on sale again I will buy enough to last for years to come. Otherwise I will just get another pair when these start to wear.

I took off one star for the goofy laces.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I really like the look and weight of this shoe. It seems well ventilated for warmer weather. These are definitely not for cold weather. The spacer for the clip gets chewed up quickly in my pedals that do not use clips. Overall, I like the product, and the price here was the best I could find.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I wear a 43 in Keen and Sidi. Giro's 43 felt like a 42 or smaller. I could barely get my foot into it. I really like the looks but don't want to ship a couple more sizes back and forth to find one that fits. They may run that small or it may have been mislabeled at the factory.

Comments about Giro Rumble VR Casual Shoes:

I've been shopping for a "touring" shoe that was walkable for some time. And these seemed to fit the bill. Light weight, and walkable with the cleat in. Great for summer because the top mesh is extremely breathable. But because it's a lace shoe, one can put a thick wool sock on if needed.
