Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts
Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts are one tough customer. Their stout nylon construction means they can withstand even the most spirited off-road endeavors and still come back for more -- again and again. A pair of side hook and loop adjusters enables you to dial in the perfect fit while the snap waist and zip fly bolster the shorts' fit and versatility. The Lancaster doesn't have a liner so you can either wear these as stand-alone shorts or wear your go-to padded shorts underneath for enhanced comfort. Either way, you're going to love how these shorts operate.
  • Tough nylon construction is up for any off-road challenge
  • No liner means you can wear your favorite padded shorts underneath
  • Gusseted crotch panel provides additional durability
  • Side hook and loop adjusters ensure a comfortable fit
  • Snap waist and zip fly
  • 3 pockets for gear storage

Comments about Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts:

Use for commuting to work, about 15 miles per day.
Comfortable, pockets are well placed.
Not particularly cool, but as expected considering the durable fabric. The Velcro strips on the sides don't hold the shorts up as well as a belt, and I suspect they will wear out before the shorts do.

These are good shorts and a utility option for me. The backwards pocket is a good idea and is no problem to get use to. The material is lighter than I expected but still rugged. The feedback to order a size smaller is spot on!

Comments about Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts:

I ride a recumbent, so don't need shorts with pads. These fit fine, especially for a heavier rider, and "move" well. I wish they had another front pocket or two - even little ones to hold ID and such.

My favorite pair of shorts. The elastic waistband with the velcro tightener is perfect. No need for a belt! They are true to size and very durable. The pockets are excellent. I actually took a nasty spill and my cell phone stayed in the pocket with no problem, and the shorts did not tear. I wish they were available in more colors, I would get a pair to ride in everyday of the week!

Comments about Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts:

I build trail a lot, so I spend a lot of time moving from my bike, to using tools and needing some freedom of movement, then going back to the bike, as well as just spending days out riding. I wanted a pair of shorts that would work on the bike, and building and this fit the bill. They're priced right, so I don't feel bad if I wear them out some out building in them, but so far they're proving to be pretty durable, the material seems to be good quality, and construction is good too. The cut isn't bad for moving around, although they aren't the most stylish looking shorts in the world, but if you're going to get prices this good, there has to be some give and take somewhere.

Comments about Nashbar Lancaster Baggy Shorts:

These Nashbar Lancaster shorts were just as I'd expected in shorts that I don't mind wearing off the bike for casual social events.

Comfortable, lightweight, rugged -- I've had two minor crashes on pavement and abrasions that snagged a few holes in my jersey and scraped my elbow didn't harm the shorts a bit.

The nylon material is comfortable, lightweight and doesn't chafe. The spandex seat is very comfortable and makes it easier to maintain the optimal saddle position than wearing my khaki and denim baggies. The spandex material below the rear waistband doesn't seem necessary, but feels comfortable and doesn't show under my jerseys or untucked casual shirts.

The shorts hand-wash and air or fan dry easily and quickly. Spilled drinks and juicy hamburger spills cleaned right up.

The small right Velcro pocket is perfect for a small wallet with ID, cash and keys. The deep reverse angle pockets hold keys, loose change, etc., securely, yet are easy to reach down to the bottom. And they even hold my favorite compact digital cameras perfectly, without flapping around annoyingly against my leg as with my other baggy shorts. Should hold most smartphones as well.

The only drawback is a minor one. As other reviewers have said the waist runs just a wee bit wide. I'm 5'11", 165 lbs, and my waist runs 34-35". The medium size with Velcro tabs snugs up nicely, but I might have been able to fit the small size. My legs are thin and I'll never have massive quads, so the Lancaster shorts legs are just baggy enough to be comfortable without flapping around annoyingly while riding. If your waist runs closer to 32", go for the size small.
