Lake MX237 Mountain Shoes
These sleek Lake MX237 mountain shoes turn out frightening amounts of speed in no time flat, thanks to their design and technology. Besides the obvious good looks, which are important mind you, the Lake MX237's feel amazing on your feet as well. They utilize Lake's cutting-edge BOA lacing system, combined to create a luxuriously comfortable shoe that conforms to the shape of your foot. A full grain leather and mesh upper is a nice finishing touch.

Lake's dual side-mounted BOA lacing system uses flexible nylon strands to cinch the uppers together by way of ratcheting micro-adjust dials, which draw the uppers down and back for a secure, non-bulky fit. Finally, Lake adds a stiff carbon fiber sole, with Mountain Race X real rubber tread, that ensures excellent power transfer on the bike.

Bought these shoes to replace old Sidis for an upcoming "fleche" Did 360 km in one go with no issues. Most comfortable shoes I've owned.

Comments about Lake MX237 Mountain Shoes:

I wear a size 13.5 or 14 U.S. My foot is exactly 1 foot long and I have a hard time finding quality shoes that don't break the budget. My shoe progression over the last several years has been from an old pair of Sidi Dominators that I bought used, to some Bontrager RLs that I trashed, to some Giro Codes that never fit right. Now I have these MX237s and I think they are the best shoe I've owned.

My requirements in looking for a new shoe were that they be primarily made of leather and have a boa closure system. I'm so pleased I found these. After about 10 rides I cannot believe the difference from my last pair of shoes. These Lake's are amazing. The Boa closure system works very well. I can tighten the shoe on my foot and they remain comfortable. There is no pinching or hot spots. The leather isn't even broken in yet but it conforms so much better than my other shoes ever did. I can't wait to race these and actually break them in.

A couple of side notes about the shoe, there is a little too much volume for my foot in the forefoot area. This is going to different for every person but I plan to insert a custom insole or try some non-customs to take up the space. If I can do that, this will be the perfect shoe. Soles are plenty stiff and light enough for racing. I plan to use them during the upcoming CX season and the only possible downside that I see is the venting on the bottom of the shoe. I will probably plug the vent holes with shoe goo or silcone to lessen mud/water incursion. Also, the plugs for the cleats are very low profile. If you plan to run cleats, I recommend removing the plugs and putting some short cleats in place as soon as you get the shoe. After 10 rides and a couple hike-a-bikes, the stock plugs were already getting marred and were not easy to remove. I'm looking forward to seeing what these shoes can really do once they are broken-in but so far, this might be the best value leather shoe with full carbon sole out there. I'm hoping they are as durable as my old Sidis.

Comments about Lake MX237 Mountain Shoes:

I don't usually do reviews, but these shoes are the most comfortable cycling shoes I've ever put on. I buy nearly all of my gear at my LBS, but they don't deal in Lake products so I purchased these online. I have heard so much good about the Lake shoes, I wanted to try another pair. (I already have and love the winter 303). These are made of real leather that is super soft and comfortable. The traction lugs on the sole are made of grippy rubber and not hard plastic. The sole is super stiff for efficient pedaling, but also works well for short hike a bikes. I've only got a few hundred miles on them right now, but so far, I'm really impressed. If they wear out prematurely or have issues, I will come back and edit my review. So far I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about Lake MX237 Mountain Shoes:

As a woman with large narrow feet I'm forced to buy men's cycling shoes, but they are always too wide. The 2 boa closures are great for adjusting. I'm able to snug it down real easily for the length of the shoe and not just by the top of the foot like with a ratchet type closure or single boa.

Only have worn twice on the trainer so not sure how it will be in warm weather or longer rides.

I use these for group ride and light tours. The rubber sole grips are great for the coffee stops and some sight seeing. Soles are nice a stiff for good power transfer. I have a narrow (C-B) width foot with high arch and these were a shade wide but still useable. The Boa laces are great allowing the forefoot to be tightened with no arch pain.

Comments about Lake MX237 Mountain Shoes:

It may be a bit early to review these, as I only have about 100 miles on them. I was looking for a nice leather shoe that could be used on both my mountain and road bike. I dont race, but do ride roads quite a bit for workouts. The tread is not too agressive for casual road use. I think these MX237s are a very attractive shoe, and the quality is very good. I wanted a leather shoe without velcro. The carbon sole is suitably stiff and light, yet they are still fairly easy to walk in. In particular, I think the BOA system is very fast and reliable. I am able to adjust the tension on the fly quote easily. I usually wear a 12, and ordered the 46. I believe they fit true to size. The ventilation is fairly good.
