Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost
Lighten up your prized ride without lightening your wallet courtesy of the Nashbar Carbon SB Seatpost. And not only does the carbon fiber post and its forged aluminum, low-profile clamp do wonders to shave grams, you'll delight in how easy it will be to precisely position your saddle. The Nashbar Carbon SB features a two-bolt, micro-adjust clamp that's perfectly designed for minute adjustments. The front bolt rotates to dial in the angle and once that's set the rear bolt tightens to lock the saddle in place. The post's 350mm length works well with compact frame geometry on road or mountain bikes while the high gloss finish adds a serious touch of class to any bike's aesthetics.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost:

used this once and found i was above horizontal (tilted upwards) the front bolt mentioned before was not recommended to be used by CS(thumb-wheel)
the proper way to install this post horizontally is to tighten the front bolt enough so that you cannot inset your rails with the lower retainer in place.
Then take out the bottom piece put your saddle in and wedge the lower in to sandwich the rails
this ensures you will haea a horizontal saddle
no other way that i am aware of (unless you have a ergo seat with cutouts. The front bolt points upwards into the seat?

Comments about Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost:

Works as a carbon fiber seatpost should. Just be super careful if you opt to cut it down a bit if you think the additional "weight" slows you down. Not a suggestion, but people have been known to do so.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost:

This seat post was a replacement of the original that came on my 2007 Raleigh Cadent Carbon. There was nothing wrong with the original, but by making the swap I went from 306g to 241g for the seatpost and was part of larger effort to upgrade my bike's drivetrain. The only issue I experienced was trying get my saddle installed. I was working with the post and saddle before I installed it in the bike frame and this may have been some of the problem. The mounting bracket has one bolt to clamp the saddle rails and another bolt with a thumbwheel on it that is used to adjust the seat angle. The problem for me was not realizing that the thumbwheel to adjust the seat angle can't turn when the other bolt is any tension on it. Having to loosen the main bolt to complete saddle angle adjustments makes getting the angle exact a bit of a hit and miss project.

So far riding with the new post has been uneventful and I don't have any reason to think that will change.

This is a great seat post. I weight 240 pounds, and sometimes carry a 10 pound back pack with me on my commutes. This seat post is extremely sturdy and doesn't move at all. I have put about 220 miles on it so far and it has not slid a millimeter. Don't pay more for a name brand, buy this Nashbar seat post, it is amazing, durable, light, strong, sturdy, reliable and everything a seat post needs to be!!!!

Comments about Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost:

Using this on my better half's MTB bike. She races MTB and I wanted to lighten and improve the seat positioning. The adjustment is quite easy, same as many name brand with fore-aft bolt adjustment. For MTB racing this post's front and aft bolt pattern is much better than posts that have only one bolt or two side by side. Going over rough stuff can cause the back end of a saddle to drop. But not with this post!

Comments about Nashbar Carbon SB 350mm Seatpost:

This is a good seatpost, very light and all is well once the seat is tightened, but the thumbwheel adjuster in the front of the seat bracket is very odd. Seat angle is set by turning the thumbwheel until the angle looks about right, then tightening the back bracket hex bolt until it's tight. Only problem is the seat angle moves upward a lot during this step and the thumbwheel can't be turned to compensate. It's on a downward facing hex bolt and I can't fit a wrench between it and the seat to engage the bolt head either.
So, I learned to start with a flatter seat angle and count turns of the thumbwheel and back bolt. After two or three tries I can get the seat where I want it.
The seat bracket is much less bulky than is typical for two bolt designs, but still clamps very tightly. It would be nice if some room could be found for a conventional upward facing front bolt, but the thumbwheel isn't a bad trade off for the lighter bracket. Wasn't hard to figure out.
