Comments about Saris Freedom 2-Bike Tray Hitch Rack:

Bought this rack and the optional fat bike trays for my new fat bike because my other platform rack wouldn't fit the fat bike tires and that company did not have replacement trays for fat bike tires.

The good: Rock solid, very secure hold on the bikes, no worries at highway speeds, fast loading and unloading. Works great for a single bike.

The bad: Won't accommodate disparate bike styles at the same time - for example, my fat bike and my wife's WSD step thru hybrid (because the trays are on the same bar there are serious limits to independent adjustments for the tray spacing). This is a significant limitation if you plan on using this rack for two bikes that require the wheel trays to be in specific locations in order for the down tube clamp to end up at an appropriate spot on the down tube. If you're carrying two men's hybrids or road bikes you'll probably be fine unless the wheelbases are substantially different. The straps aren't quality "ratchet straps" but rather are simple pull through 'latching/locking' style that won't come loose, but that you can't cinch down really tight either. The hitch bolt can only go in from the driver's side (not a super big deal, but just a pain to have to remember (my other platform hitch has a similar anti-rattle bolt but you can thread that one in from either side)).

Love it, it accommodate my road bike and my triathlon bike with a secure hold and with out stressing the bike frames. Best of all is built in the USA. I will like to see a collapsible rack in the future.

Comments about Saris Freedom 2-Bike Tray Hitch Rack:

Before purchasing, I checked the Saris website and it confirmed this would fit my car. Theoretically that's true but with the rack mounted I'm unable to open the back gate on my Rav4. Also, there is no lock to secure the rack to the car. That costs extra. There is no lock to secure the bikes to the rack. That costs extra. Unlike other similarly priced racks from Yakima, this one does not fold out of the way to provide access to your trunk or back gate of the SUV. Lastly, several parts that in my opinion should be metal are made of very thin plastic. So they will likely break in a short time. You can buy replacements but - wait for it - those cost extra!

Comments about Saris Freedom 2-Bike Tray Hitch Rack:

This product is well designed. When the unit is properly attached to the vehicle, the bike and rack are very secure. I was afraid that it might wobble back and forth but I found it to be very stable. The wheel supports are designed to hold a wide variety of tire widths. My only quibble with this rack is that it is heavy and hard to store when it's off of the car. But that's only a minor thing. Seems to be very well made. I highly recommend this product.
