Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Women's Contest SO Jacket:

WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR:
Something light and fleece-lined for colder rides down to the 30s. It was important that it keep the wind out while still maintaining good breathability. It was also important that it have long sleeves to accomodate my long arms.

HOW IT FIT:
I normally wear XS in bikewear, but I ordered a small because I wanted to make sure I could wear several layers underneath. This runs TTS and the XS would've probably fit fine, even with layers. The small is roomy, but not bulky, though, so I'm fine with it. One of the main reasons I selected this jacket is because of the black elastic cuffs. I have long arms and find most cycling top sleeves are too short, which is pretty problematic in windy weather. My arm length (shoulder to wrist) is 35". The bottom of the cuff on this jacket hit about an inch above my wrist while standing and 2-3 inches above in a cycling position. When combined with gloves, it's long enough to keep the wind out, so I'm happy. I also like the bungee to tighten the bottom of the jacket and keep out wind.

HOW IT PERFORMED:
Wind Performance - Windstopper is the truth. I've worn this in 35 degree weather with 15-20mph winds with a couple base layers underneath and remained nice and toasty in the core. I've done similar rides in other non-windstopper jackets and they weren't fun at all.I love that my core temp stays up in this jacket, so my toes and fingers last a bit longer in the cold. Despite keeping the wind completely out, the jacket was very breathable. I didn't feel my sweat accumulating and becoming clammy. I've tried at least 4 non-gore jackets, and they all paled in comparison in this aspect. I've also worn this in 50 degree weather with a light sleeveless base layer and it was a dream. Tried it in 60 degree weather (I get cold really easily), but it was too warm.

WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED:
The back pocket is awkward. Another review said you get used to the vertical zipper pocket. It's been over a dozen rides, I'm still not used to it. It also doesn't hold much. It can hold a phone and not much else. But that's the only thing wrong with this jacket. In exchange for all it gets right, I'll take it.

BOTTOM LINE:
A great option that is windproof, breathable, and very warm. It runs true to size. Great for long-armed ladies. Would buy it again in a heartbeat

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Women's Contest SO Jacket:

Loved this jacket so much I had to buy another. Bought it for cool/cold weather cycling but it has become my favorite cold weather cycling jacket. I am 5'6" and 145.....size large is just enough for light layers underneath. But you don't need more than 1 layer even for a 15 degree run...

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Women's Contest SO Jacket:

Jacket looks good and fits well except the sleeves are too tight. I am a tall slim lady and thought a large would fit good over a base layer. It didn't, I recommend a size larger for a more comfortable fit.

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Women's Contest SO Jacket:

LOVE this jacket. Completely blocks the wind. Every time I've used it (wind chills near 0 degrees), my torso has remained completely warm. I've even run in it a couple of times when it was snowing/drizzling. Great for bike commuting. Also, I remember some reviews saying this runs small, but it doesn't. I mistakenly ordered a medium based on those reviews and I had to send it back for a small (my typical size).

This jacket has a comfy, warm layer on the inside, and the outside layer blocks the wind. Great in colder weather (unsure about freezing weather). I've used it to commute -- with a long-sleeve layer underneath -- in 20-30-degree temps and have been perfectly comfortable. The thumb holes are a nice addition -- keeps the wind from blowing up the sleeves and/or on the wrists. Excellent purchase, definitely recommend.

I wore this jacket on a cool misty day and it kept me dry and warm. It is somewhat breathable, form fitted, and will repel light rain or mist. Recommend for 30-50 degree range, cooler if needed with layers.
