GORE BIKE WEAR Phantom 2.0 SO Convertible Jacket
The Gore Bike Wear Phantom 2.0 jacket is all about blocking the wind in a superbly versatile, convertible garment. It's constructed of Gore's legendary Windstopper soft shell fabric that's not only 100% windproof but also incredibly breathable to keep you comfortable as you crank out the watts. If the temperatures start to climb you're still in luck as the long sleeves can be zipped off for conversion into a short sleeve top. There are reflective elements on the front, back, and sleeves to keep you visible in low-light conditions and three rear pockets are perfect for stowing your ride essentials.
  • Windstopper fabric construction provides 100% windproof garment with maximum breathability
  • Sleeves zip off to convert jacket to short sleeve garment when temperatures rise
  • Stretch inserts for optimum freedom of movement
  • Wear-resistant elastic binding on sleeve-hem and on hem
  • Full-length zipper with underflap to keep wind out
  • 3 rear pockets to stow ride essentials

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Phantom 2.0 SO Convertible Jacket:

This jacket is exactly what the doctor ordered. I live in Northeastern California, (elevation 4,250 ft. above sea level in the Sierra Nevada mountains) where we have all four seasons, and a long winter. Needless to say, some of us do our best to continue riding all year long. For that, we need excellent and reliable riding clothing that would keep us dry, warm and of course, be water repellant, to take care of the occasional rain and/or sudden snow fall, while on a ride.
I researched different products and settled on this product. From day one of wear, I realized this jacket was exactly what I was searching for. Not only are the wicking characteristics great, but most importantly, it kept the cold air from getting inside and it's also great for its water repellant qualities.
I did get a size large and it fit a little too tight. So, I sold it to a cycling buddie and she wholeheartedly fell in love with it. I then ordered an XL, which does not fit as tight and gives me the ability to wear several layers underneath more comfortably. Another buddy of our cycling group also purchased one and with now three of us wearing it, with great results, we suspect more in our group will follow suit.
Also, the color combinations are well done and pleasing to look at. I first purchased the blue and red and now have the orange and black.
Highly recommend this jacket and would certainly purchase it again.

Only one ride on a 40 degree day so far. Thought out the bag I made a mistake, but when I rode it was surprisingly comfortable and breathable.

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Phantom 2.0 SO Convertible Jacket:

I now have two of these - one in Hi Viz yellow and one in Vibrant Orange. These jackets breathe much better than a windbreaker type shell and are quiet. The ability to remove the sleeves or just unzip them a bit for extra ventilation as the day warms up is a plus. I wear these with just a light jersey or wicking t-shirt at temps below 50º and can take them well below freezing by layering underneath.

I wear these daily in the winter for commuting and longer road rides on the weekends.

The only improvement I could suggest would be a zipper that opens from the bottom as well as the top. Some of my wind shells have that type of zipper and I often unzip them from the bottom up to let air in without turning the jacket into a sail (not a huge problem with these due to the close fit).

Comments about GORE BIKE WEAR Phantom 2.0 SO Convertible Jacket:

Great choice for colder rides in the lower 30's with a thermal shirt underneath. Like any windproof item it does create some moisture buildup, but nothing like most windbreakers or rain jackets. Better choice for longer cold weather rides. Wished I'd purchased this years ago.
