Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike
The Mekk Poggio 2.0 is all about delivering exemplary value in a rocket ship of a road bike. At its core is a new MU monocoque carbon frame that's both stiffer and lighter than its previous iteration. Coupled with the Poggio's classic geometry plus a 3K carbon 1-1/8" to 1.5" tapered fork and you've got the makings of a stunning all-arounder that's ready to bring your road riding to new heights. Shimano Tiagra 10-speed shifters, derailleurs, cranks, and cassette are precise and reliable while the venerable Japanese components manufacturer is also utilized for their reliable, do-it-all R501 aluminum wheels. Marquee brand names are smartly spec'd with the tires - the workhorse Continental Ultra Sport II - as well as the saddle - classic Italian craftsmanship and quality in the Selle San Marco ERA Start Power.

Mekk is the brainchild of Mark Edwards (ME) and Ken Knight (KK), a pair of Brits with extensive experience in high-performance cycling at both the racing and production end of the spectrum, and they've delivered a tour de force bike worthy of the legacy of Milan-San Remo's iconic Poggio ascent.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

I held off on commenting on this bike until I'd spent a few hours on my normal weekend routes and the local autumn Fondo. I rode in the 100k on the Mekk Poggio 2.0 and had a great ride. Beyond expectations as a matter of fact. I was still beat at the end but not "in the end" if you know what I mean.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

This is my second Mekk Poggio 2.0. The first I received had a defective front shifter lever. Thats on Shimano. I did a warranty swap at my local bike shop and had them tune it as well. After the warranty swap I took the bike out and about a mile down the road I had a failed component. Could of been the chain or rear hanger. This damaged the bike pretty bad. At this point I was reluctant to keep this bike but decided that it was not any fault of Mekk. Nashbar customer service was great as usual and I decided to send that bike back for another.

I have put about a 100 miles on this new Poggio without any hiccup. The bike is very light and responsive. The Tiagra group set shifts very smooth. Not to mention this bike looks amazing with the contoured frame. My local bike shop was amazed when I told them how much I paid for a MU monocoque carbon bike.

The only complaint I would have is the provided seat leaves much to be desired. It is very uncomfortable. This will be my first upgrade. But at this price point thats not much to complain about.

All in all, this is a great bike at an amazing price. get yourself a new seat and enjoy.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

Had the Mekk 2.0 for about a month now. Rides wonderful and fits amazingly well. This bike smooths out the road amazingly well and I absolutely love the new bike. The brakes could be a little crisper and 28mm tires do not fit the front fork as advertised. They do fit in the rear however.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

The poggio is a well mannered bike when on the road. It is stiff and transmits power input efficiently, when set up correctly and all derailleurs are synced and dialed correctly.

I am speaking from the first ride and some which allowed me to dial in on my correct and specific set up. My maiden ride was nearly 18 miles of high wind gusts and cross winds (20mph). Through it all the bike was responsive and it kept me smiling from how quickly the gears shift and how it got up and went by my slightest input.

The frame leaves nothing to be desired since I was looking for a relaxed but racy geometry, the components on terror her hand can be upgraded as they degrade. But like most other sports equipment, it's not about the equipment it's about the end user's skills to use it.

Out of the box.. deep gouge in the carbon frame. Nashbar made up for it with a discount. Okay. First ride ... not yet to 10 miles, the chain breaks, jams up the gears, locks up back wheel. That's on shimano I guess. although I never had a problem with them on my Specialized. Won't buy another MEKK

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

This is my first road bike within my price range. The components are great. It came all assembled (minus tires, seat, etc). It is very responsive, fast, light weight. The geometry is excellent. I had to make a few minor adjustments. I still have to make an adjustment on the derailer. It grinds slightly against the chain. Otherwise the Tiagra is very smooth, quick responsive shifting.
No complaints for this price range. Excellent value as a beginner, entry level full carbon bike. I highly recommend this bike. Nashbar was excellent as always. I have received this bike within a few days of ordering. I wanted to upgrade from an aluminum. It is a HUGE difference. I saw some other review that also said that it better hitting bumps. I totally agree.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

After going back and forth between three local bike shops for a decent aluminum bicycle, I started to read the reviews on Nashbar and Wiggle about Mekk bicycles. All of the reviews were favorable, with some minor issues that weren't a deterrent. I received the bike via UPS, opened it just to take a quick look, and handed it off to one of the local shops for final assembly. Upon picking the completed bike up, all the mechanics raved about how light the bike was, how it looked, and how it handled. The adding Shimano lipless pedals were a plus also. My first ride was 50 miles, and I immediately noticed how light, responsive and fast the bike was without checking the computer or phone. I didn't want to get off the bike!!! I didn't check all my gadgets or phone for speed, cadence, etc. which would have been a distraction on the first ride. Upon getting home, I checking the computer and phone, and I set all new speed and time records for one of my favorite routes. Again, I can not say how responsive and fast the bike is. Looking over the frame and components of the bike, they're pretty decent for someone looking for an entry level road or carbon bike. The Shimano Tiagra group set, along with some house branded components are expected at this price level. I can't say enough how much I love this bike, and recommend it to those looking for a road or carbon bike.

Comments about MEKK Bicycles Mekk Poggio 2.0 Road Bike:

I looked into this MEKK company a bit having never heard of them, and seems it was just started a few years back by a couple English guys with large biking backgrounds. They're made in Taiwan, like just about every other bike (even most Treks), and the quality seems on par with others. They've managed to keep costs down and still get very good reviews, mostly from Europe where it appears they're sold widely.

I generally ride the road bike in the 20-30 mile range a couple times per week, with an occasional 50 thrown in. This full carbon frame is such a great improvement over my last bike (aluminum with carbon stays/fork); the reduced road vibration is definitely noticeable. I find the frame geometry to be very comfortable.

The sale price on this bike makes it a fantastic deal; Tiagra is a mid-level group of Shimano (below 105 and above Sora), and works well, particularly for the price. The wheels are also as expected, good enough...this rim, or something similar, is basically what's on most bikes from the $1000-$2500 or so range. I did swap out the seat with one I had on my old bike, so I can't comment on that.

I managed to find a solid bargain on a new Ultegra groupset and upgraded all the mechanicals pretty quickly (again, nothing really wrong with what it came with, I just couldn't resist dropping a few oz). It's really a thing of beauty now. Love how it rides and would recommend to anyone.
