Nashbar Alloy Road Frame
No matter if you're interested in building up a zippy, performance-oriented road bike, a sturdy steed for commuting, or anything falling in between, the Nashbar Alloy Frame is a versatile foundation awaiting your perfect build. This svelte frame is constructed of 6061 aluminum -- the industry standard for quality in either mountain or road bike frames. The beauty of 6061 aluminum is that it's tough, light, and can be fashioned to give flex in all the right areas for superior control and riding comfort. The material strikes a nice, happy medium between carbon fiber and steel. In this rendition, the Nashbar frame features sculpted, aero top tubes and down tubes paired with a traditional, round-tubed rear triangle. All of the cables are externally routed for ease of maintenance and set-up, the bottom bracket shell is the classic 68mm English thread standard, while the head tube is designed to accept a 1-1/8" zero stack headset. This frames is such a good deal that resistance is futile. Snap one up today and build it just the way you imagined.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

This is an awesome frame for the price! Ignore the reviews that state it has poor quality control, and here's why: As far as the headset, it takes a standard 1-1/8" headset. Being a new frame, you need to press in new bearing races! If you buy a complete headset, it should come with them. If you don't know how to do it either Google it, or go to a good bike shop. If your bike shop doesn't know what you are talking about, DONT GO THERE ANYMORE!!! As far as the frame spacing on the rear dropouts is concerned, it is perfect. Before you put the wheel in, it IS 135 mm. Once you tighten the QR skewer it squeezes the frame in to 130 mm. This is STANDARD! This is what happens when people that have no business building a bike try to build a bike!

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

The frame seems nice but I haven't been able to build it up because I can't even install a headset. The headtube ID measures at 43.2 on top and 43.5 on the bottom. My headset (cane creek ZS44) measures a little over 44mm. There's no way it would ever fit. I'll have to take it somewhere to be machined/reamed out. So far none of my local bike shops have the right tool in 44mm. So I'll have to take it to a machine shop with a lathe. At least the rear hub spacing is 130mm, so I've got that going for me.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

I built a single speed with this frame, as an another poster mentioned the rear spacing is not the standard 130 mm but 135 mm. That caused a little problem with my build - I had a buy a new axle along with spacers to accommodate that.
In any case, built a nice bike - with some left over components and some new ones (frame, head set etc.) and have been enjoying this more than my regular high $$ 18 speed bike. And for some inexplicable reason I have been asked questions by other riders about the bike.
The quality of the frame seems nice, the welds are pretty uniform. I am curious to see how the paint job (which by the way is beautiful) will hold up over time.
Taking off one star for the spec difference, other than that hope to enjoy this bike for years to come.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

Had ordered to do a road bike build for woman friend; one of the bottle fittings missing on seat tube, and rear spacing was 135mm, not road standard 130mm. To BN: check for variations of product from distributor! That being said, I still completed build using 135mm spaced wheelset; She went gaga on maiden ride after using mountain bikes! Longtime customer, return policy gives me confidence had I had to return it.

Good product for the price, but no headset sold for the frame, so you have to take it elsewhere after purchasing it in order to finish the build, which isn't convenient.

Have you ever wanted to build a bike but were hesitant because you felt you lacked the skills? That was me to a T. Tool box was pliers and a ball of string! Well over the winter I decided to collect appropriate tools, components and this frameset. Bang. Not that intimidating at all! Sure I had to redo things once or twice and fiddle with derailleurs but man is it worth it. Do it! You really get a nice result for well under a grand and can finally talk shop with your riding buddies to boot!

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

Bought this as an upgrade to a department store bike, and am not disappointed at all. Paint finish is very good, all components bolt right on with no issues. Purchased a Cane Creek Zero Stack headset and a Nashbar carbon/aluminum fork, and they matched up perfectly.

Built up with Shimano 105 drive train, Ultegra cassette and chain, Shimano WH-RS610 wheelset with Vittoria tires/tubes. Rolls smoothly, much more responsive than the previous bike, total weight is just over 20 lbs, but I'm very pleased with this build.

I think the black components and white frame look great together, just need some decals or graphics to personalize it.
