Nashbar Alloy Road Frame
No matter if you're interested in building up a zippy, performance-oriented road bike, a sturdy steed for commuting, or anything falling in between, the Nashbar Alloy Frame is a versatile foundation awaiting your perfect build. This svelte frame is constructed of 6061 aluminum -- the industry standard for quality in either mountain or road bike frames. The beauty of 6061 aluminum is that it's tough, light, and can be fashioned to give flex in all the right areas for superior control and riding comfort. The material strikes a nice, happy medium between carbon fiber and steel. In this rendition, the Nashbar frame features sculpted, aero top tubes and down tubes paired with a traditional, round-tubed rear triangle. All of the cables are externally routed for ease of maintenance and set-up, the bottom bracket shell is the classic 68mm English thread standard, while the head tube is designed to accept a 1-1/8" zero stack headset. This frames is such a good deal that resistance is futile. Snap one up today and build it just the way you imagined.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

I've bought this frame two times from nashbar. I returned it the first time for a smaller size and because the headtube wouldn't fit any zero stack headsets, including the cane creek 10 series headset from nashbar. Just received a smaller size today and the headtube still won't fit any zero stack headsets. It's been a full month since I ordered the first time and I can't see myself returning the frame again and waiting another month. I've been a customer of nashbar for 5 years and this is my first bad experience ordering from them. Other people have had this same problem in the review section.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

The headset that will definitely fit this frame is a Cane Creek 40 Series Zero Stack Headset, item number CC-HS40Z and Nashbar has these available. Also, the rear spacing is fine. I used a Dura Ace rear hub and it fit perfectly. When installing this or any headset, you have to be careful and make sure it go in straight. It will fit the way it is suppose to fit... it is a press fit headset. I hope this helps any future buyers.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

I hope that Nashbar continues selling this frame. I see they are low on stock and they might not get more in. This is the second frame I built and everything went great. I love riding this frame. I had Cannondale's, Trek, Fuji aluminum bikes and this one is just as good and a lot less expensive. I hope Nashbar gets more frames in because it is a great way to build a very nice bike for an affordable price.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

I built up this frame with Shimano Ultegra components. Everything went together without any problems. The head-set pressed on perfectly, the bottom-bracket went on very well, and the rear-wheel spacing is just fine. I read some of the other reviews and I do not understand why they had a hard time with their bike build. If you are thinking of buying this frame, do not hesitate because it handles great and ride smoothly. I am 5ft. 11ins and the 60cm frame is fine. The frame comes in a nice white finish with no decals but I found some decals on line and now it looks great.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

I have built up three previous bikes on Nashbar frames. Fun and inexpensive. Got ready to build this bike (gathered all the parts and have built the wheels), only to find that there is no known headset that fits the head tube on this frame. Local bike shop couldn't help. Previous.reviewers have covered the problem pretty well, I see.

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

This is an awesome frame for the price! Ignore the reviews that state it has poor quality control, and here's why: As far as the headset, it takes a standard 1-1/8" headset. Being a new frame, you need to press in new bearing races! If you buy a complete headset, it should come with them. If you don't know how to do it either Google it, or go to a good bike shop. If your bike shop doesn't know what you are talking about, DONT GO THERE ANYMORE!!! As far as the frame spacing on the rear dropouts is concerned, it is perfect. Before you put the wheel in, it IS 135 mm. Once you tighten the QR skewer it squeezes the frame in to 130 mm. This is STANDARD! This is what happens when people that have no business building a bike try to build a bike!

Comments about Nashbar Alloy Road Frame:

The frame seems nice but I haven't been able to build it up because I can't even install a headset. The headtube ID measures at 43.2 on top and 43.5 on the bottom. My headset (cane creek ZS44) measures a little over 44mm. There's no way it would ever fit. I'll have to take it somewhere to be machined/reamed out. So far none of my local bike shops have the right tool in 44mm. So I'll have to take it to a machine shop with a lathe. At least the rear hub spacing is 130mm, so I've got that going for me.
