Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack
Transporting your bikes to the next road, mountain, or greenway adventure is a simple endeavor with the Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack. The wide range of adjustability regarding wheelbase length and the height of each bike's top tube means the rack can accommodate most any bike out there. Attachment of each bike to the rack is super-simple as it requires just securing the rack arm to the top tube plus fastening the ratcheting strap to each wheel. The upright rack arm can be folded down for access to the rear of the vehicle (bikes must be removed from the rack) and when the rack isn't in use it folds upright for a more compact rear profile on your vehicle. And for optimal versatility, the Shadow DLX2 comes set up to work with either 1-1/4" or 2" receiver hitch.

It was easy to put together. It fits my 62cm road bike. And my 21 and a half inch mountain bike with 29 inch wheels just fine.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

Great rack for the money. Seems very durable. Easy to install and remove bike. Holds the bike very secure during travel. Tilts away at 45deg to allow rear door opening. Only real drawback I have found, is the lack of tilt mechanism. You have to remove a pin to tilt and reassemble the pin. Not very easy when you have two bikes installed. But other than that, it is a great little bike rack at a cost that makes it well worth purchasing.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

Carries bikes well. Hard to load inside bike. The bar that holds the inside bike down needs to be able to slide down farther to securely hold the inside bike. Pin that holds rack up in fold away and down positions hard to put in and take out. Also need to be able to secure the tire holders so they can not be stolen off of rack when bikes are not on the rack. Still like the rack overall.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

Got my bike rack today, only 3 days after ordering. It came packaged very well, everything was there. Assembly was no problem at all. With bikes off it folds up so no one runs into it. I am using this on a 2015 GMC Canyon and I really like that even if the bikes are on, The pin can be removed and the bikes will tilt downward so the tailgate can be opened. when driving there is some movement but seems sturdy enough not to worry about. After all it is only attached to your vehicle at one central point. If I was going on a long trip I would add some securing straps anyway.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

I really like this rack. My wife likes a bike with a very low or no top bar, to accommodate her range of motion post knee replacement. A top bar secured rack was impossible to use. This product secures the bikes by the wheel with a clamp down on the top bar, even when the top bar is almost to the chain rings. It holds the bikes extremely securely on the rack, especially with the ability to lock the top clamps down.

Great rack to carry mountain bike, except, the wheel tie-down straps are to short by about 1 inch from securing the bike.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

Well built but the load tray bar is not wide enough to fit any bike with a wheel base over 44 inches and since
most adult bikes have a wheel base over that you can only transport children's bikes. Don't buy this unless
you plan on using it for a child's bike.

Comments about Nashbar Shadow DLX2 2-Bike Hitch Rack:

I put this together in about a half hour, which was really easy with good directions. It's very durable and had minimal movement once attached to your vehicle. It took me a minute to figure out how the locking hitch bolt was to be installed but once you get it tightened down to your hitch, it's very secure. For the price after purchasing with an additional discount, I'm not sure there's a better deal on the market. The rack tills to allow access to rear hatch and folds up when not transporting a bike. After using it a couple times its seems like it should last me a long time. My only complaint is the cross bar locking mechanism doesn't really lock all that well. At first glance it appears it's secure but with a little wiggle I was able to move the ratcheting mechanism up even with the lock in the lock position. This isn't a deal breaker for me as I usually cable lock my bike while on the rack. Overall for the price you can't beat this rack.

Very happy when received, solid construction with features I did not expect; bike and hitch locks, threaded anti-sway hitch pin.
Problem I have is the anti-sway hitch pin is to short for my hitch. I have a Toyota Tacoma with factory 2x2 class IV hitch. When installed as per the directions the threads of the pin do not catch the nut in the stinger. Nashbar does not offer a longer pin. I inserted the pin from the opposite side and that catches the threaded nut just fine but the hitch pin does not extend far enough on the other side to enable the hitch pin lock to engage. I will file some of the plastic off the lock to see if I can get it closer and engage the pin.
