Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire
The Michelin Pro4 Comp sets a new standard for a road tire that's not only competition light but also sports a puncture-resistant belt to ward off flats. The Pro4 Comp features the same Bi-Compound tread and HD Protection belt as Michelin's Pro4 tire, but the Comp sports a higher TPI casing (150 vs. 110) that reduces weight and delivers an amazingly supple ride. With a sub-200 gram weight the Pro4 Comp will ensure you'll have the ultimate in performance for those rides where every iota of marginal gains make a difference.
  • 150 TPI casing helps reduce weight as well as rolling resistance
  • Bi-Compound tread is firmer in the center for minimal rolling resistance, softer on the edges for optimal cornering grip
  • HD Protection belt increases puncture resistance without compromising performance
  • Super-light at 180 grams

Comments about Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire:

So far, the Pro4 Comp are the best and comfortable tires I've used !!
They roll fast, corner very well, grip firmly and no flats after 1000 miles!! Some rides were on very rough roads, even gravel unpaved ones !!! Maybe I'm lucky with my pair, but considering the price, for me the Pro4 Comp is the winner .

Went thru 2 sets of these tires putting on no more than 75 to 100 miles. Big gashes in sidewalls and plenty of flats. Not worth the money.

Comments about Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire:

I read that the Michelin Pro4 Comps had low rolling resistance and light weight, great for going fast. I ordered a pair. I got them and immediately noticed that the sidewall was just "fabric" (nylon??) with no rubber protecting it. All of the rubber was on the outside where the tire contacts the road. That explained why they were so light weight. I was hesitant at first but figured I'd give them a try. They were good and gripped the ground well. (I don't know how they are in wet conditions.) Then one day I went for a short ride and there was some stone in the road where I needed to make a turn. I tried to not run over any of the rocks but wasn't successful. I heard a loud pop and heard the sound of air escaping. I stopped and found that a rock hit the sidewall where two of the pieces making up the sidewall join and it split. The loss of the sidewall integrity caused my tire to pop. While I was waiting for a ride I looked at the rocks I ran over and none of them were sharp or jagged. By chance one just hit a weak spot (the seam) and caused the sidewall to come undone. Because of the lack of sidewall strength I cannot recommend these tires to anyone. I went back to Vitoria (Rubino slicks) and have been very happy since.

Raced on these as a teenager. 30 years later, as I rediscover cycling, the tire has gotten even better
-still a low rolling resistance tire (slick)
-with amazing cornering. A rare combo

Comments about Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire:

I bought these to replace the Vittoria Zaffiro slicks that came stock on my bike. I used them for a few months and they were okay. One day I was riding and took a corner at speed. There was some lose gravel on the road and I tried to avoid it but I didn't do a very good job. There are what appear to be seams around the tire and a rock hit one that caused the seam to split and the tube to blow. Fortunately I was able to stop before there was any damage to the rims. The problem is that there is only rubber on the circumference of the tire. The sidewalls are just nylon and offer no puncture protection.

Comments about Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire:

I've had numerous brands and sets of road biking tires over the years, and I had a blow-out fastest of them all with these (less than 100 miles). I hit a small stone at very slow speed (under 10 mph) and got a long slit in the sidewall. After that, I had to walk past any scattered gravel in the road to prevent another flat. I've hit similar stones at higher speeds without a problem before. I judge durability to be very low on this tire.

Comments about Michelin Pro4 Comp Road Tire:

I purchased these tires less than 1 month ago. Within the first 2 weeks of use I noticed "severe cracking" starting to show up where the tread rolls over to the sidewall. I ran them another week and was afraid to use them any longer. These tires are "extremely fast" and "lightweight". But they do not last. JUST MAY AS WELL TOSSED MY MONEY OUT THE WINDOW. "SORRY QUALITY TIRE"!! Just purchased Continental Tires which are known to last.
