      Comments about Nashbar Hero Shorts:

I prefer a light padded short. Most cycling shorts have way too much padding. This short has just a bit more padding than I would like but far less than most. For the price, this is the best short I have purchased in a long time. I liked them so much, I bought two. They are advertised to wear under a baggy short but I think they can be worn alone.

          Comments about Nashbar Hero Shorts:

I tend to ride long distance between local cities and have gone in races. These are a lot more comfortable than regular spandex shorts with no pad.

They are made of a thicker material as well so I think they will hold up better. And they are true to size.

I like the drawstring on the waist and the rubber grips the bottom of the legs, keeps things in place.

I don't have any complaints far. They look good and feel good. I will most likely be buying more soon

Good value, but not great shorts

          Comments about Nashbar Hero Shorts:

I bought two pairs on sale. I have a 36 inch waist, but I find the larges a bit too tight. They're OK enough, but maybe I would have chosen the XL if I could have tried them on side-by-side. THe padding in these shorts is pretty minimal. It's a thin piece of foam that gives very little support or padding. Also, the lycra material is somewhat course or rough. It doesn't matter that much, but it feels quite cheap compared to other shorts.

Overall, for the price I paid, these are fine for training rides, but they'll never be my favorite shorts.

              Comments about Nashbar Hero Shorts:

For the price great padding, I bought the large having bought other nashbar shorts in that size. As usual fit fine in the waist I am 5-6 about 165. The padding works fine. I would prefer a little more grip in the thighs for compression. However in defense of the shorts leg are tight enough that the legs will stay in place. As I live in Texas it rarely gets cold so I intend to wear these over my tights which provide support but no padding. If you do not need a lot of compression or have tights that can supply the needed compression Nashbar sells these shorts at a dirt cheap price. Might also achieve compression by going down a size.

                  Comments about Nashbar Hero Shorts:

Very comfortable and just the right weight. The only downside is that it's a bit longer than I'd like- I'm 5'8" and the medium size is almost down to my knees. Still a great deal and I'd recommend it. Nice that they come in different colors as well.
