Fizik Aliante R3 K:ium Saddle
A favorite among the professional peloton, and with good reason, the Fizik Aliante R3 K:ium Saddle strikes an optimal balance between comfort and weight. Italy's Fizik introduced the first Aliante in 1999 and in the subsequent years it has become one of their most loved and preferred saddles. 2014 marked a milestone in the evolution of the Aliante with the launch of an all-new, sleek profile. It's built off the 'Bull' family of Fizik's Spine Concept system, so it's designed around cyclists who are less flexible and therefore need more cushion for soft tissue areas as they roll forward on the saddle. The K:ium rails are constructed of an alloy lighter than titanium, and they're plenty stiff so they won't deform under power.
  • Composite glass co-injected nylon shell provides support with optimized stiffness to-weight construction
  • Microtex cover is durable and weather resistant
  • K:ium rails provide high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent vibration damping
  • Ergonomic dip platform and rolled edges are designed for riders with less flexibility
  • Weight: 220 grams

Comments about Fizik Fi'zi:k Aliante R3 K:ium Saddle:

I bought this noticing the subtle differences between the old Aliante and the new. My old Aliante was comfortable except it caused chafing after long rides and I thought "if they would just make this a tad bit narrower it would be perfect!" Well the new Aliante is not only lighter but a shade narrower and it cured my saddle issues! It required no breaking in and was an immediate fit. I rode 150 miles in 2 days with a brand new saddle and was completely comfortable. I am 5' 11" and 200 pounds, riding 150 to 175 miles per week. I do have slightly wider sitbones and medium flexibility.

Now there are some things you should be aware of: the white model after 2 rides showed yellowing and MAY have been from my shorts bleeding onto it; never the less nashbar replaced it with a black model. The first replacement felt HARD AS A ROCK and seemed to have a hot spot on the left side. But I knew it hadn't been the case with the one I had first so I called and explained and nashbar sent me another black model and this one was PERFECT on the first ride I knew the difference immediately!
So my point here is if you get an Aliante that seems uncomfortable and hard and you've ridden an Aliante in the past and didn't have this trouble.. chances are you may have a dud like I did.

Overall the best saddle I've ever ridden.

Comments about Fizik Fi'zi:k Aliante R3 K:ium Saddle:

Saddle reviews are really pretty worthless because there are so many variables, but I will give you my take...This is the 3rd Aliante that I have put on a bike, and the 4th Fizik. I am an athletic 50 year old avid cyclist. For my bum, the Aliante is a very comfortable saddle for longer rides where my posture is more upright (handlebars even or just below my seat height. The width and rounded shape fit my backside really well. 50 mile rides are no problem with this saddle. I use the Arione on my racier road bike set up. I use the Aliante for my distance and gravel bike. Fizik quality is very high, and the lightweight is nice, although I don't think that makes that big of a difference and should not drive your decision on a saddle- unless you are racing. If your drop bars are considerably lower than your saddle, you may want to look at the other models. This newer model has two textures of microfiber on the top and helps keep your bum planted where you place it. I have never had a Klum rail fail on me. I have used a lot of different saddles, and I always seem to come back to Fizik. You know you have found the right saddle when you realize that you are not thinking about your saddle.
