Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike
Performance, value, reliability, and just plain ol' good times on a bike intersect to superb effect with the Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike. The C10 ultra-high modulus carbon fiber frame plus full carbon monocoque fork are plenty light, plenty stiff, and built to withstand all the punishment you can dish out on the trails or dirt roads. The frame features a massive BB86 bottom bracket shell to enhance both stiffness and weight savings while more slender top tube and seat stays enhance the ride quality on rougher terrain. Additionally, the internal routing of the cables keeps the aesthetics as well as shifting/braking performance neat and tidy. The full carbon fiber fork, with a tapered 1-1/8" - 1-1/2" steerer tube, also contributes to weight savings plus also delivers a superb ride quality and inspires confidence no matter how challenging the terrain.

Shimano's exemplary 105 groupset is worthy of its accolades regarding value, craftsmanship, and performance as so much functionality, precision, and reliability has trickled down from big brothers Dura-Ace and Ultegra. The shifter/brake levers, front derailleur, rear derailleur, and cassette all fly the 105 11-speed flag and if these parts were logo-free you'd be hard pressed to distinguish their performance from its much higher-priced Shimano siblings. The crankset, too, flies the Shimano flag as the RS500 model sports stiff, aluminum construction and 46/36T chainrings that are a perfect complement to the 11-speed 11-32T cassette.

The Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike sports Promax Render R mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear. The days of squeaky cantilever brakes with somewhat dubious stopping power in sloppy conditions are a thing of the past. Weather won't be an issue for reliable, consistent stopping power and even in dry, pristine conditions you can carry more speed into corners and scrub speed later than you ever could with cantilevers. The Alex aluminum wheels are the epitome of reliability and durability with 28 spokes front and rear with stout 14g stainless steel spokes. Vittoria's XG Pro 'cross tires, in a 700x33 size, are true all-arounders and are plush enough to soak up rugged terrain plus deliver ample grip and traction while braking or accelerating.

Last but not least, the Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike sports a compelling stealth aesthetic with its matte black carbon frame and fork plus black components throughout. The dashes of silver in the chain, cassette, front derailleur, and brake rotors provide a nice pop of contrast to the otherwise stealth-mode styling everywhere else. There's a subtle, grey "Nashbar" logo on the front of the top tube that extends onto the side of the head tube as well as a small "Nashbar" logo on the inside of the non-drive chain stay as well as the back of the seat tube just so your friends can tell the source of this carbon fiber 'cross wonder.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike:

Over all I am satisfied with the quality of the bike. The price is right. The handle bars are a bit over sized for the frame it is a little heavier then what I was hoping for . But the components, shimano 105 are Prefect and have a smooth shifting. The 11speed drive train is more then enough to climb and it's combination of front ring and rear cassette make it great for picking up speed quickly.
I am very happy with this bike and the price is prefect!!

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike:

I have only ridden it twice but so far I am very pleased. It came well protected and 90% built. It may not be the lightest carbon bike but it seems to absorb road shock very well. The wheels are true and everything works as expected. At 5' 10" it fits as expected. It has a slightly more upright positioning but I have found it very comfortable during longer rides.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike:

I am very pleased with this bike. I ride in NYC on the streets and outside on the rod and gravel/asphalt/fire roads and this bike is very well versed in coping with these terrains. My road bike did not offer the flexibility to cope with NYC streets, nor the option to wander off into more car free places to avoid the SUV maniacs.
The bike was well delivered and easy to assemble. The gears need a little bedding in and adjusting but apart from that I was off and running pretty much out the box. The seat is taking a little anatomical adjustment, but that is to be expected.
The ride on gravel/rail trails is very good - good compromise between a bike rugged enough to ride these off road trails broken up by road links without overly compromising on speed by going to an outright mountain bike.
All in all a great buy for some serious recreational fun.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Cyclocross Bike:

I am an avid cyclists who likes to race recreationally. I purchased this bike to replace the Nashbar Steel Cyclocross bike which I have ridden for 7500 miles. The bike arrived packed very nicely no damage at all to box by UPS. The usual no instruction on assembly or adjustment are included but I am very fluent at maintaining and adjusting bikes. For those that are not then You Tube has all you need. Put on some music take your time and assembly will by easy. Assembly went smoothly, set seat height and handlebars to the same as my old bike, a few very minor adjustments to disc brakes and off to the races, literally.

Bike arrived on a Thur assembled on Friday and raced in Cylclocross races both Sat and Sun. I am 60 years old, 190 lbs, 6' 2" have a 34" inseam and the 60cm frame is right on. I probably could have gotten away with the 57 but I would have had a much more upright ride. Total weight for this bike is 22 Lbs not the lightest Carbon Bike out there but for the price I didn't expect it to be. I will be going tubeless that will save some weight along with eventually getting lighter (carbon) seat post and stem.

Brakes are mechanical disc and day 2 in the rain and mud they worked great. I was much more confident in the descents than I was with my center pull brakes on the old bike. The first day I used the brakes they weren't really set in yet and they were stronger as the race went on. Tires were run on dry conditions day 1 and wet muddy rainy conditions day 2. I have ridden bikes with hydraulic disc but I noticed very little difference.

The bike shifts nice which is what you would expect out of 105 components. I did put the Deore XT pedals on it which for me at least work great. The seat I feel is fine but have only raced the bike really so no long term time in the saddle but even then saddle comfort is really a matter of seat bones and personnel preference.

To sum it up you can't go wrong for the price. Try and find another bike out there with similar components at a price point like this especially on sale I don't think you can.
