Cavalo Disc Road Bike
Will 2017 be the year you enjoy all the benefits of a disc brake road bike? The new, 2017 Cavalo Disc Road Bike is quite the package deal replete with an aluminum frame, carbon fiber fork, Shimano 105 11-speed components, Mavic Aksium wheels, plus, of course, a set of mechanical disc brakes to keep your speed properly in check.

For 2017, the Cavalo disc road bike sports a custom-butted aluminum frame with sculpted tubes and a tapered 1 ⅛" to 1 ½" head tube that's light, stiff, and rides like a dream. There's a full carbon fork with the corresponding tapered steerer tube fork that inspires confidence courtesy of its rock solid and utterly predictable handling.

Shimano's superb 105 5800 groupset delivers a perfect 10 for value, craftsmanship, and performance in its 11-speed iteration. It's certainly impressive just how well these components work as so much functionality, precision, and reliability has trickled down from big brothers Dura-Ace and Ultegra. The shifter/brake levers, front derailleur, rear derailleur, crankset, and cassette all fly the 105 11-speed flag and if these parts were logo-free you'd be hard pressed to distinguish their performance from much higher-priced Shimano siblings.

If you've ever had issues with the functionality of caliper rim brakes, prepare to be impressed by how well the Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes perform. Once you try out disc brakes, no matter if it's wet or dry out, you'll be a convert for life. Weather won't be an issue for reliable, consistent stopping power and even in dry, pristine conditions they're truly a game-changer.

The perfect complement to the Cavalo's Aries disc brakes is a set of Mavic Aksium wheels. These disc brake-specific road wheels feature a litany of Mavic's technical know-how applied to disc brake-equipped bikes. The S6000 aluminum rim features a profile optimized for disc brakes while the spoke geometry and lacing pattern is also configured to best accommodate the demands disc brakes place on wheels. The wheel's straight pull spokes are stronger than conventional J-bend versions while the serviceable cartridge bearings keep everything rolling super-smoothly. Vittoria Zaffiro Slick tires, in a 700x25 size for a nice balance between speed and comfort, perfectly fits the Cavalo disc road bike's motif of being completely dependable and durable while still providing noteworthy ride quality.

Comments about Cavalo Disc Road Bike:

I'm new to cycling and was looking to buy a decent road bike without breaking the bank. Did my research and decided to buy this one.
For sizing - I'm 5'9" and wear 30L dress pants - ordered the 54cms and it fits well. It comes with everything you need to start riding (including pedals) and is ready to go out of the box. Assembly was easy and they pay attention to every little detail when shipping the bike. Someone mentioned the saddle not being comfortable so I ordered a gel seat but the stock saddle is quite good and I'll end up returning the gel seat.
I've been riding it and am very pleased with the bike. It is lightweight, comfortable, rides smooth, has 105 components, disc brakes and is good looking (not too bright or flashy). Great quality and value.
This was my first experience purchasing from Nashbar and now I'm a fan of their awesome customer service - I'm a permanent customer and will be shopping here more.
    I highly recommend Bike Nashbar!!

Comments about Cavalo Disc Road Bike:

One of the best things about is the price, you get an almost-full 105 groupset bike with the exception of the brakeset which is a Tekro Aries mechanical disc system also with a Maxis Aksium One wheelset with Vilano Zaffiro Slick 700x25c tires. Some of the downsides are: bike is a little on the heavy side, welds are really visible, uncomfortable saddle ( Just listed as Velo saddle, thought not sure if this is because it hasn't been broken in yet), uncomfortable pedals(Wellgo cage, but still good that they included pedals), stem, dropbars and seatpost are Kalloy brand. So far I have only put around 40 miles on it ( weekend) and I swapped the seatpost and saddle to a carbon bontrager seatpost with a bontrager plushier saddle and mtb/bmx platform pedals and the ride seems more enjoyable. All in all, if you're not a weight wenee or a brand-snob it is a good steal since it almost pays for the groupset and the wheelset by itself.

Comments about Cavalo Disc Road Bike:

Great Nashbar value in a nice road bike. Beautiful fit and finish...comes with all the good stuff. I did change out the seat...my 70 year old butt needed something a little more soft to the back side. You can't go wrong with this bicycle.
