Comments about Ascent Carbon Fiber Seatpost:

I'm an aging ex-college football player and have recently taken up cycling to reduce the pounding on my body. I'm 6'3" ~ 235 lbs and wanted to soften the ride just a tad. I ride a Specialized Allez Sport and the aluminum frame would transmit every crack. The post has muted this very nicely. With my size, the only concern will be its durability. We'll see...but as of now its been great.

Comments about Ascent Carbon Fiber Seatpost:

I wanted to add seat angle adjustment to my Giant Escape 2W. I found that I could have carbon for about the same cost as a decent aluminum alloy seat post.
I found that it installed into the frame easily. I used Finish Line friction compound rather than grease so that I could clamp it without over torque.
Assembly of the seat onto the post was character building as there are many parts all having to be lined up: seat, seatpost w/ lower clamp, upper clamp, clamping bolt, clamping nut. But after a few tries there it was.
I have had no problems at all with the post. It seems not to flex sufficiently to reduce pedaling effort to the crank. No squeeks yet. It is very long and I would think this helps to locate it securely in the frame.
Will it last? At this point who's to say. I have probably put at least 200 miles on it and thus far have nothing but good to say.
Oh, and Bike Nashbar sent it rapidly and in good condition. Thanks guys.

I bought this to take the sting out of my older Giant TCR aluminum frame. It does the job nicely. It makes riding long distance more comfortable. This is a nice smooth, comfortable, compliant post. Much smoother than the old aluminum post. It doesn't get any cheaper. Thanks Nashbar.

Comments about Ascent Carbon Fiber Seatpost:

I used to race (a long time ago), but now just ride for fun. Nothing very serious, fast, or long. I bought this as an experiment to see if a CF seatpost would be noticeably different than my DA alloy seatpost in my traditional steel frame (Reynolds 653), which already has a CF fork. I was pleasantly surprised with how much of a difference the CF seatpost makes. I've intentionally ridden over rough sections of pavement (but not cobbles) and it really smoothes out the ride. The CF seatpost absorbs a lot of the vibration. And it takes the edge off more pronounced bumps/dips. It's a 350mm seatpost so way too long for a conventionally-sized frame, i.e., horizontal top tube, so I had a LBS cut it down (probably by 100mm). So that made what was already a relatively light seat post even lighter. If you're replacing an alloy seatpost, don't forget to throroughly clean out/degrease your seat tube and use carbon paste. The packaging didn't have any torque specs, but I tightened my seatpost clamp to 40 in-lbs or ~4.5 n-m. So far, no slipping or twisting. Also, I like that it's a single bolt design because that's what my DA seatpost is, so easy for me to get the saddle adjustment right. If you're a "steel is real" rider, this is a light and comfy upgrade for not a lot of $$$.

I got into updating or fixing up my older Gary Fisher "Marlin" mountain bike this summer/2012. Kwick Roller Street Tires, New Shimano Brake & Shifter cable housings with the slick stainless steel cables, A Cat Eye EL 135 light & Night Rider Tail light. New Flat Pedals with the sharp pegs that will get your legs if your not careful, but they hold your shoes very well, & now this trick seat post.. It fits the post sleeve like a glove & holds my Serfas Reactive Gel type seat very well with the one screw clamp.. reviews I've read about getting rid of the seat or road buzz I think are true.. seems to be a much smoother ride.. Not a whole lot of miles on it yet though.. I think it adds a lot.. Very Happy With This Purchase.. RIDE SAFE..

Replaced the stock seat post on my Cannondale R600. There was slight improvement in comfort. Much lighter than stock! It does help absorb road imperfections, complimenting the already excellent Cannondale frame. You can't go rong with this carbon seat post. I ordered a second one for my hybrid.

Comments about Ascent Carbon Fiber Seatpost:

I cycle daily, commuting to work, on a route that contains both road and trail, as well as weekend recreational riding. This seatpost has made my rides infinitely more comfortable.

The single-bolt clamp was a breeze to fit my saddle onto (Unlike my original seatpost!) and I have been able to dial in the exact angle I need my saddle to be at for maximum comfort (Again, unlike my original seatpost!)

I cannot yet speak to the durability of this seatpost, but it appears to be sturdy and well built, and has, so far, dealt with everything that has come along.

All in all, this seems to be great product, and is certainly excellent value for money. Not the lightest CF seatpost out there, but certainly a lot lighter than the aluminum post it replaced, and definitely more comfortable. I am purchasing another one for my son's bike.

Works great on my steel Bianchi Eros road bike. Thick tubing so it should hold up for years. Very long so you have plenty of tubing for various size frames and people. Love the graduation mark scale imprinted on the post for easy adjustment reference. The fore-aft tilt adjustment seems trickier than some to get perfect. I think this is merely the way the teeth are molded and is not a deal breaker at all. I got mine dialed in perfectly it just took longer than my Bianchi post. An overall great looking piece for the money. If you want a nice looking carbon post at a great price, look no further.

I cut 4 inches off of this for my 1983 Trek 560 and it fits very nice. The seat angle adjustment isn't quite where I need it and the adjustment is so course I can't get it any better. Keep looking.
