Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork
The Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork is great for urban mountain bikes with dead suspension forks, or if you're looking to shed some weight. These have a nice, comfortable, and responsive 45mm rake, and will add all kinds of cred to your street stick.
  • The 385mm axle-to-crown height is just right for bikes that originally came with rigid forks, or forks with less than 80mm of travel
  • IS Disc mount and dropouts are aluminum
  • 45mm rake
  • Fits tires up to 26x2.1"
  • 930g

Great upgrade

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

Great fork if replacing another rigid fork. Used to replace the old cro-mo fork on a 1997 Trek ZX6500 (along with a full component upgrade). No issues with changes in geometry and gets along well with the new headset. Front end is much lighter and the ride is pretty smooth. Very happy with the purchase.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

I've been using another fork made by the same company, Aprebic, for years, so this was a no-brainer. The other is tough, light, and has survived my abuse just fine. I expect the same from this fork.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

This is the fourth replacement fork I purchased from Nashbar, but the first carbon mountain bike fork. The specs tab on the website does not provide much info, And it is advertised as being a great replacement for a dead shock. I wrongly assumed that it would be a copy of their steel mountain fork, (which I love) but I was very wrong. It is about 2inches shorter than the steel fork. I would only recommend it to someone with a full rigid bike that they are trying to modernize. So now it sits unused in my shed.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

I can only comment on this carbon fork as it arrived. I put it in with no problems and have ridden the bike, a liteweight carbon fiber frame "townie" commuter bike only a few miles in the last week but all is well thus far. The price of this carbon fork was a fraction of the quotes I received from the 2 bike stores I went to initially.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

I am 220 lbs and I am not exactly a graceful rider. I ride single track hard. I bought this to replace a blown out suspension fork. This Fork has held up with no problems. I do notice that it lowered the front, changing the riding geometry a little and it steers quicker than before. Because of this, I don't have the control I use to on downhills. I am now replacing it with a proper suspension fork because of the change in geometry.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

This is a good quality product and is a great upgrade from a suspension fork. I had a little trouble rounding up the parts to complete this installation. I needed an additional bracket to make my existing disc brake work on the new fork, quite a few spacers for the neck and the star nut that goes in the tube. I would do it again, and I like the way the carbon fiber smooths out the riding I do on bike paths and streets.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

I've had several of these in the road variant, with 1" steerer tube (hint, hint). They are superb.

Please make this in at 1" steerer tube. There are at least as many 1" MTB that are likely to buy one of these as 1-1/8, as most 1" have rigid fork geometry and are being used as rugged city/commuter/touring bikes.

You guys will sell a boatload of 1", I promise you.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Mountain Bike Fork:

This was surprisingly easy to install. I was replacing old (1996) shocks and in under an hour a friend and I had everything replaced and going. Instructions were fine but what really makes this a good deal are the forks themselves. Light and responsive. Friends are jealous and are looking at getting some for their older bikes.
