These bike pedals are perfect for cruisin' around town, hittin' the greenway or just burning a few calories on the trainer while you catch up on your TV drama. They've got the modern advantages of sealed bearings and lighter, more durable materials, but they still have that classic vintage look, so they won't kill the theme of your old-school road bike.

Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

Just got them today and installed them twice. Had to take them apart and swap the front platea to make them look like the photo. I will try them out tomorrow, but they are much smaller than I expected.

      Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

Put these on my wife's rec path bike. She likes toe clips, so these are a good pedal for the application. I noted that the sales description says OK to use on indoor trainer, but the included data sheet says not for use on any indoor equipment(?) Doesn't matter in our case.

          Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

I have these on both my road bikes, with thousands of miles of use. Haven't had to replace a set yet. (And when they do wear out, they are inexpensive enough to replace.) The straps hold well. (Remember to give the straps a twist under the pedal when you install them, so that the straps don't slide.) I grew up with classic toe clips and straps, and these are do the job as well as pedals 30 years ago.

              Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

I bough four of these and after a few hundred miles, two pairs are already making a loud clicking noise from the bearings. These are suppose to be sealed bearings but it must be poor construction because it didn't take long before they were noisy. Do NOT buy! I will be sending all 4 pair back!

Nice little pedal but the bearings failed in first 100 miles. Maybe it was a bad one or maybe its just cheap? Nashbar service offered to take it back.

                    Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

Beats the heck out of fooling around with small ball bearings. Unless you need the old vintage pedals to complete the 'look' of the bike..these are fine replacements- Brand new, no issues, relatively light -- this is a fine example of how almost any modern cheap part is going to be better than an old worn out part, and probably lighter and stronger too. Haven't broken them yet, and I've snapped more old pedals (and spindles) than I would care to admit.

                        Comments about Nashbar Scratch Pedals:

The picture does not show that the slots for toe clip straps are only on outside of the pedals - the inside doesn't have one so the straps just thread past an open bend in the pedal cleat and this likely won't hold the strap well. I may return these since having it tangle in traffic wouldn't be a good thing...
