Comments about Lake MX175 Mountain Shoes:

This is my first mountain bike shoe and experience with clipless. I found these shoes really comfortable out of the gate.
I wear a 8.5 US men's shoe, but have a "square" box foot shape so must shoes have an uncomfortable shoe box, thus I gravitate towards the shoe brand that rhymes with seen. The sizing guide put me at a 42.5, ordered a 43 and the fix was perfect. On the first ride I noticed that the top most boa lace created a slight pinch point where it crossed the top of my foot, however on subsequent rides that is gone. Love the boa lacing system. easy in, easy out, and micro click adjustable. Have probably 15 rides in on them thus far and don't even notice the shoes are on. overall very pleased and would recommend, great comfort and performance for the price.

Comments about Lake MX175 Mountain Shoes:

These appear to not offer half sizes so after reading some reviews on here, went with a 45 (I consistently wear a size 10.5 US). The shoes looked great and I was very excited but after trying them on I quickly realized they are too wide and the toe box is way too big. I would like to try on a size 44 but I'm not about the spend another $8 to return those as well. They were so wide and the toe box so big that I really don't think a size 44 would work either. I will try to find some to try on locally. I am surprised they make a wider version!

Comments about Lake MX175 Mountain Shoes:

Love the red and black color. The first time out with the shoes I over-tightened them. Easy to do with the "Boa"-constrictor little wheel you turn to tighten the cable laces. That said, I look forward to wearing them many miles. I prefer MTB shoes for road cycling so when you get off the bike you don't slide around on the cleats.

After being out of cycling for 20 years it was great to finally find a shoe that is designed for cyclist with wide feet I usually wear EEE. These shoes are so comfortable I would not look at another brand. I have no complains about this binding system it has always worked with no problems.

Comments about Lake MX175 Mountain Shoes:

Overall, this is a good shoe, but it has two flaws that I see. First Lake has replaced the old lace-and-strap closures with the BOA lacing system. The problem with the BOA system is that after only three rides, one of the ratchet mechanisms is sticky and will not release fully, due no doubt to having dust and mud getting stuck in it. So unless you like to clean these parts every ride, this is not a good design feature.
Secondly, the tongue of the shoe is short, which makes getting the shoe on rather difficult, as the BOA system will not let you lift the tongue up.
These shoes were chosen to replace my Lake MX165, and sadly they are not as good.
