Comments about Nashbar Ram Single-Speed Road Bike:

This was a good deal at $299 with a 20% discount. It's lighter than I expected. The 40X16 gear makes for an easy ride. It's a nice midnight blue color, you may mistake it for black in the photos. My only complaint is the screw that holds on one of the brake pads must have fallen off in shipping, I'm going to have to replace that. If you don't have them buy a multtoool and a pedal wrench and assembly will be a breeze. Be aware that it's a track-type bike so it doesnt have holes to attach a bottle cage, fenders, or racks. All in all I'm very pleased with it.

Comments about Nashbar Ram Single-Speed Road Bike:

I've had this bike for about 3 months now, and I'm happy with my purchase. This is a great bike for the price, especially if you can get it during one of the 20% off sales. It's beautiful and reasonably light, and needs next to no maintenance which makes it great for riding around my grad school campus.

That said, there are a couple things to be aware of:

My biggest peeve is that It didn't come with the nice silver pedals that are shown in the picture - instead, it comes with some basic, ugly black ones with basket style clips. The clips can be removed from the pedals fairly easily, and the pedals are at least made out of metal rather than plastic.

The handlebar tape was coming unraveled when I received the bike. However, this was easy enough to fix.

Overall, I recommend this bike to anyone looking for a basic bike for short, mostly flat commutes.

Comments about Nashbar Ram Single-Speed Road Bike:

I was able to get this little gem during a 20% off special (total was about $240). At that price, it's a great purchase that provides a great platform for any upgrades or swap outs that you might want on it.
The frame and fork are nicely done. The color is a royal blue (October 2013) and the paint job looks flawless. I mention the color because I thought it was black. Again, it's a quality job, not at all unpleasant, but if you want black, you need to keep that in mind.
I am comfortable on 56 cm bikes usually, but CHECK THE SIZE CHART carefully before ordering. This led me to ordering this bike in 54cm and it's just fine this way.
I had a lighter handlebar, so that went on there, as well as a lighter saddle. Nothing wrong with the bike as is, however. Gearing works out fine for the moderately rolling and flat ride I have on my commute to work.
I did switch out the brake levers to a set of Cane Creek standard road bike levers with hoods. I'm on road bikes a lot, so I favored having a familiar setup for this bike.
I gave this bike a five star rating because it's a very nice balance of parts, performance and price. I'd certainly buy it again without regrets.
