Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

Got this to play with the Grandkids and it was a hit! Easy to install, two small children (ages 3 & 5) fit good. Even got 7 year old in sitting with legs crossed. Great combo with stroller attachment! Can't speak for durability yet, but looks like it will hold up.

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

This trailer is perfect for our needs. We do not plan to do any extensive riding, but we wanted something that would allow us to take our 2 year old and 5 month old while we go for a bike ride with our 4 year old (yeah, we're kinda crazy). The trailer seems well built and is very easy to setup and attach to your bike. It has enough support to hold our 5 month old in place comfortably, and still has plenty of room for the 2 year old. I am very pleased with this purchase.

    • Hauling Kids At Low Speed

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

I bought this thinking that it would be suitable for hauling kids and other stuff while riding at a normal speeds. Unfortunately, I normally ride faster than 10MPH-it's printed right on the rear of the canopy. Any more expensive trailer would not have this type of limitation. I think the reason behind the low speed rating is because of the axles/wheels fitting so sloppily into the frame (which lacks any type of suspension). Without any suspension, I have to think forcing your child to ride in this trailer is borderline cruelty. The hitch is also fairly hokey, but not when you consider the price point I suppose. The materials used in the shell seem to be a decent quality and it also comes with the flag. Those are the only high points. I'm giving this trailer 3 stars, which I feel is average. This trailer is NOT good enough for the more experienced cyclist who isn't patient enough to ride slowly. However, it is good enough for the casual rider with lots of time to spare, so as to slowly cruise from here to there.

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

I've owned this for two weeks. I had stopped bike commuting because I had to take my son to day care, but now I love that I can ride to/from work again. // What I like:

      (1) Quick and easy hook-up system. I just lock the trailer up at day care, and ride the rest of the way to work, then re-attach on the way home.
      (2) Empty the weight is barely noticeable.
      (3) I like that you can roll up the plastic window and there's a screen for summer.
      (4) There is a point on the back to clip a beacon.
      (5) Keeps rain off well.
      (6) Has storage pockets that the child can reach (I put a water bottle there for him).
      (7) Can also use for cargo.
      (8) Folds easily.
      (9) If you fall, your child won't fall with you, and he's somewhat protected and strapped in.
      (10) Highly visible yellow color; has good reflective tape on the back and includes a flag. //

      Others:

      (1) When riding in standing water (even with splash guard over rear wheel), water pools in the bottom near child's feet. There are drain holes, but I put his rain boots on or put his legs in a cloth-type reusable grocery bag. Perhaps a mud flap that extends to ground on my rear wheel would stop this--I don't know. //

      Recommendations:

      (1) Practice with it empty first, to get used to longer total length, larger track width, and reduced maneuverability.
      (2) Recon your route if possible so you know where to expect curbs, rows of barrier poles, pot holes, and the like.
      (3) When loaded, be aware of reduced braking effectiveness.

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

I got this when it was on sale but even at full price it is worth it. You dont even notice its attached to your bike when empty. When I have my child (30lbs), it is no problem getting up some steep hills on my 27 speed mtn bike. Easy to assemble (3mins). Spring between bike attachment and trailer helps when your torquing and eliminates any bouncing/yo-yo affect when sitting. If standing up, you feel it enough to make you want to sit down and accomplish the task at hand. Kids loves it. Easy to install with 9mm quick release skewer. Amazing product for the money. There are better, I have seen and touched them but not used. I cant see paying 2-3X more for 2-3years of use. If you plan to use it for many more years then it might be worth investing more but you still would not go wrong with this trailer.

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

To date, I have about 25 miles towing this behind my single speed mountain bike outfitted with slicks on my local roads. It's lightweight and rolls nicely. The screen and plastic front panel allows me to adjust the wind accordingly. It has pockets for stowing snacks and toys within reach. It's super simple to assemble and easily attaches to any bike via quick release or threaded axle.

            Suggestions for future improvements:
Option to purchase additional connectors so I can swap between my bike and my wife's without having to remove the rear wheel.
Suspension would help mitigate the bumpy ride though may sacrifice pedaling efficiency.
Vertically adjustable shoulder straps for smaller children might provide for a more comfortable ride. My daughter is a peanut and the straps (though secure) terminate above the top of her head.
Divider between the rear storage compartment and the underseat area. Items stowed behind the child may have a tendency to fall to the floor of the trailer and reside beneath the seat or rattle forward to the child's feet.

Overall, highly recommended product at a fraction of the price of competing options. No issues with connector failure as commented by other reviewers.

Comments about Nashbar Kid Karriage II Bike Trailer:

Overall, I've been pleased with the Kid Karriage. It was easy to assemble and I can attach to the bike in under a minute. The quality seems durable so far. My only issue would be it's a little tight when I take my 4-year and 2-year old for a ride together. They are slightly squeezed, but it's not uncomfortable and the enjoyment we've gotten so far outweighs the cramped quarters. I'd definitely recommend to other cyclists with small kids.
