Lake CX145 Road Shoes
Lake's new CX 145 Road shoe is the answer to cold-weather cycling in conditions that are wet, windy, or blustery--but cold--around 30-45 degrees cold. They feature super durable synthetic and waxed canvas uppers and a double boa dial fit setup ensures that your foot stays exactly where you want it in the shoe. CX 145s also feature a minimal lugs for a little added traction when walking in wet weather. Finally, an injected nylon platform with a 3-bolt pattern cleat interface maintains supreme stiffness.
  • Coverage of angle and foot keeps warmth in
  • Waxed canvas and synthetic leather are rain proof
  • Injected nylon platform maintains stiffness
  • Lugged sole for winter traction when walking
  • 2 boas make for ideal fit for every ride

Comments about Lake CX145 Road Shoes:

The Lake CX145 is a terrific shoe for mountain biking in tough conditions but also useful for colder road biking where you want to use 2 bolt pedals. The dual BOA closure system is as simple and effective as you can get with fine control of foot pressure at the ankle and separately the lower foot. Very good flexure at the ankle gives you the freedom of a low cut shoe but all the protection from a hi cut shoe. Note these are not insulated but expect good performance down to the 40 degree area with one wool sock. You will need 2 socks to get to the 30 degree range but I have insulated Lake's for the colder weather. The CX145 is surprisingly light and the lugged sole is very grippy in all conditions, much like a real hiking shoe. The sole is near racing stiff but I find walkability to be superb. While the shoe doesn't have mesh vents, I find my feet stay dry so the interior is also well engineered to wick perspiration. You could probably use these shoes year round in many climates they are that versatile but for me this is the best fall mountain biking shoe you could ever want.

Comments about Lake CX145 Road Shoes:

I really like these shoes. They fit comfortable, are easy to get in and out of, tighten down well with the BOA closure system, and were a good price. Lake shoes just fit my wider flatter feet really good (I've have several pairs)
The only complaint is that they are just not warm enough for me. They don't feel that much different than regular cycling shoes and they called winter shoes??

The Lacing system is fantastic, but I haven't had them long enough to see the long term effects.

Comments about Lake CX145 Road Shoes:

Fnally I got a winter shoe that rides well and keeps me going. For years I have not been able to find a suitable road shioe, so for cold rides I used to swap pedals and use my Mountain Biking road shoes. Great fit and easy to adjust. Please not the that these shoes run on the small size. For instance, My winter Mountain Bike Shoes are Louis Garneau and Specialized, and I use size 44 for both. However, for the CX 145 I went size 45. Not only it fits more comfortable, but this allows for a medium weight sock, and toe warmers. The BOA lacing is very nice and easy to use. I have used these shoes on long winter rides in New England, and have not had cold feet in temperatures up to 30 degrees using toe warmers. The coldest I have used them, was about 20 degrees. For this ride I used full length foot warmers and Peal Izumi neoprene boot covers.
Cleats can be adjusted quite a bit, so having a shoe slightly bigger has not affected performance.

Comments about Lake CX145 Road Shoes:

I own the older version of this shoe so I ordered the same size which is already a size up from my normal size in other brands. Big mistake. They run very small in sizing for me and I could have sized up at least a size and maybe two. I would suggest ordering two sizes to see which fits best.
