Comments about Nashbar Streetwise Kevlar Belt City Tire:

These tires offer lower rolling resistance than mountain bike tires but are just as tough. The tread pattern gives them a good grip on turns. I have rarely had a flat with them. I replace them between 1200-1500 miles when the tread starts to wear out.

Comments about Nashbar Streetwise Kevlar Belt City Tire:

I have been going through a lot of tires lately. Mostly due to freak occurrences(like having a truck pass you on a sharp corner and dump a box of roofing nails right in your path).

Due to my bad luck I thought I would give a lower cost tire a try. I am very impressed with these tires. They are molded with the inner and outer tire surfaces concentric. Running the tires in-between rollers with one roller inside the tire and one outside with a dial indicator attached, I get only a max thickness deviation of 0.012 of an inch. About the thickness of a razor blade. Properly mounted on a very concentric rim the external tire run out is only 0.021 inches. I have had other tires that have had as much as 0.172 run out when mounted on an very concentric rim. Those tires were manufactured in mainland China. The Streetwise I see are manufactured in Taiwan. When the Streetwise 700c tires are inflated to 85psi I measure a width of 1.320 inches or 33.52 mm. The rubber of the streetwise tires is of a lower durometer than my previous tires. Although softer tires wear faster they give a better "grip", particularly in cold weather. I personally prefer to change tires more often than deal with road rash. I realize that the quality of different manufacturing runs may be different. My tires are from the lot delivered to Nashbar right around Christmas 2016. I know this to be true because my Streetwise 700c tires were out of stock and on backorder for a month or two and mine arrived on the 28th of December 2016. I will be ordering more to be sure I get two more from the same lot. The only down side I see is how the tires are packaged for shipment. I know that in order to be in any way economical to ship they need to wound down to a smaller size I just wish they would use wider restraints. My tires took a couple of weeks hanging on a door knob before the shipping restraint induced creases soften enough to be able to mount them properly. As additional info, I use my Streetwise tires on a 29er Mountain Hybrid hardtail for an exceptionally smooth, agile, and comfortable ride.

Comments about Nashbar Streetwise Kevlar Belt City Tire:

I've ridden 850 miles on the old ones this year and far more than that over the last couple years. Almost all the miles are commuting miles into downtown D.C., and I only had two flats with these tires. So when I needed to replaced the worn ones, I didn't bother to look for a better deal. These have the right balance of quality and price.

I put these on a bike that I use when I have to leave my bike locked outdoors and unattended downtown. It's a bike I got for free and put as little money as possible into it, so I appreciate the great price I got them at. I was able to install them without using tire tools. They're really good-looking tires. By that I mean the tread is nice and subdued, the label is tasteful, and there's no off-round circles on the sidewalls that make it look as if they were installed crookedly. They ride comfortably, handle turns well, have pretty decent traction in my unpaved alley and better traction on the asphalt. Did I say they look pretty darn good?

I bought this pair for my wife's town bike. I have been riding my pair for over a year to work everyday and they have minimal wear and I have never had a flat even in our goat-head infested city.

I put a set of these on my mtb, gained probably 4mph on pavement. I loved them so much I just put a set on my wife's trek comfort bike, she said it now rides like a dream, and is much faster than those in between stock tires
