Okay for square taper; not so for octalink.

          Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

Was able to remove drive side crank on an old allez with an octalink BB. Non drive side crank was proved too much for this tool and the collar pushes against the spindle sheared right off. So don't expect too much, but do expect you get what you pay for.

              Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

I have the Park Tool universal compact crank puller, but couldn't resist this one when it went on sale. I used it on a new bike I purchased from Nashbar, so I didn't need to apply much torque to remove the crank arms. It did the job well, was easy to use, looks nicely made, and didn't come apart on me. Pretty much an essential tool to have on hand when you need to replace, repack, or just tighten up your bottom bracket. I also bought the Nashbar cartridge BB tool, which also worked out well.

                  Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

Perhaps it was just machined wrong compared to other reviews, but on the first try for crank arm removal mine snapped in two. Perhaps the metal was brittle or stress cracked for whatever reason?

I borrowed another wrench from a friend and removed my crank arm with ease. I will have to buy another one and try again.

                  Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

Don't know what press fitting other guy had problem with? Rubber on handle will slip off if you don't adjust your position, but knowing that I have never experienced a slip off. Have used it 'bout a dozen times and it sure beats a torch and hammer...

                  Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

The metal fittings are solid and it does get the job done. The handle is shorter than I'd like so it takes some muscling. The price and quality is right for personal use.

                    Comments about Nashbar Crank Extractor:

It works well, but press-fit parts come apart after each use. Fortunately, they can be easily reassembled for the next use.
