I wear a size 13 and found them a little tight in the toes. I cut off the toes guard and love the fit now with open toes. Just completed a 48 mile ride wearing them - ready for RAGBRIA !

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I pedal most everyday, whether commuting to work, exercise, or on extended biketours, and have found that these sandals are the BEST I've ever used. I wear these all the time whilst pedaling my Doublevision; the only time they are not as effective is during the colder, winter months, when I wear full-coverage bike shoes, which help keep my toes/feet warmer due to blocking penetrating wind/cold. Last month, I completed a radically altered [my original plan was to pedal West from Cd. Juarez to Tijuana/West Coast via Ruta Dos; by the time I approached the tortuous Sierra Occidental, it became extremely hazardous for motor vehicles (much less bicycles!) due to road re-construction and a high volume of very professional 18- & 34-wheelers. Fortunately, two good Samaritans truckers gave me/Doublevision a lift to Agua Prieto!] biketour; I re-entered the USA at DouglasAZ. These are superb for cycling hot weather/desert climes. I wear quarter socks to reduce friction between my skin & sandal. However, they have NO traction/grip for surfaces other than the pedal (I don't use the cleat feature); is the surface I step on has gravel, it's just like stepping on ball bearnings. Indeed, I/fully-loaded Doublevision fell on AZ80 when my foot slipped on the loose shoulder, sendiing everything into the culvert. These are NOT easy walking shoes, though I certainly used them as such in LordsburgNM, when walking from my expensive shop (Days Inn) to the 5-star Second Chance Lumber Yard for repair parts (ownere/operator Rosie expertly guided me to the specific location for fender washers, bolts, nuts, etc.), a round trip of some 7 miles/12kms. My feet didn't like it, but there was no choice and the sandals held up fine. However, I know I'm simply wearing them out, so I'm buying a back-up pair. They get my "Wheel of Approval!" as does BikeNashbar for offering discounts on bicycling items--that's another reason why I've been a regular customer for over 30 years!

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I have been looking for these and I found them. Breathe well, comfortable, and the cleats are recessed so i can walk like a human being and still clip in (though it is harder than with my other cycling shoes.) They are not lightweight, but I am not in the Tour de France, either. For hot-weather riders, these are a boon.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I really wanted to like these. They did perform well, the sole was stiff enough that I felt I was more efficient. Unfortunately my left foot did not like these shoes. My big toe was touching the toe box and caused me discomfort after about 5 miles, and a lot of pain by 10 miles. By the time my 30+ mile ride was over I was in quite a bit of discomfort. The next size up was too big, so I basically needed these in between the two sizes. I used them with platform pedals. I like that these shoes are open, as I normally ride in Keen sandals but have begun to have issues with my toes curling and my feet going numb. In the search for a bike shoe I came upon these and was pretty excited as I've tried shoe after shoe that does not solve my problem. Unfortunately I had to return these.

Footbed is rough if you ride sandals barefoot. All my other cycling shoes are size 45. These were at least a half size too big in a size 45.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I wanted sandals because my feet get hot in the summer. I didn't want the front toe piece so I cut it out using a sharp exacto knife. The toe piece came out fairly easy but some of the glue used was unsightly. A permanent sharpie took care of that. I should mention I ride a recumbent trike and therefore don't need toe protection. They still look great and now I have plenty of air flow. I'm happy.
