Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Great sandals had to send the first pair back because they were too big. I went by the size chart on the web site. It is not accurate. Second pair in smaller size was perfect. However I was charged $7.99 shipping for the exchanged. Even though the size chart was flawed.

I do enjoy these sandals. I where socks with them so the inner sole does not bother me. I can walk in them. In Florida summer riding I certainly appreciate these sandals

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I ride a Catrike recumbent and love these sandals. These are the first bike shoes of any kind that are wide enough for my fat feet. I only weigh 210 and am 5'11" but have very flat feet. These sandals are the most comfortable I have found. The only negative are the pebbling on the insole. They feel like there is dirt in the shoe. However after wearing for a few weeks I got used to them. I feel very secure when riding and often forget to take them off after a long ride. Pricing is very competitive. Quality seems top notch.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Using with SPD clips, seem fine. The footbed, as extensively noted, is a problem. After sanding, clipping, swearing, I hit on a pencil soldering iron with a needle tip to at least smooth those horrid little nubbies. I do not use socks.
For reference, I nominally wear 10.5 EEE, 11.5 in brand k sandals, got these in 45/46, fit seems reasonable after perhaps 60 miles.
I am pleased with them so far but the foot bed of nails remains a problem.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Wanted a sandal that FIT! I am a 7.5 and usually an 8 is too big and a 7 is too small. The straps on this sandal makes it easy to adjust to fit just right. I bought the 7 and am very happy. One flaw, and it is pretty important, the back heel strap is too short. It will not fold back onto the velcro part of itself. Probably because my heel was at the end of the shoe (but not over) I had to attach more velcro to the strap. I wore them golfing the other day and got tons of compliments! Thinking of just getting a pair and not removing the center just for golf!

      BUT LENGTHEN THE STRAP!

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Nice quality sandal. I use them with Half Toe Clips and not clipless pedals so I left the rubber sole on. They just fit in for a snug fit but are a little bit harder to get into the Half Clips because of their toe height and non slip sole. I can walk great in them and have air on my feet! They are a little bit heavy.

I can't keep the women away from me when I wear them

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Okay, so I exaggerated about the women flocking to me. They might not be the coolest footwear I've ever owned. But, really, what a fantastic pair of shoes and a great concept.

I ride 25 miles out and 25 back from my house on my normal ride. This is Texas. It's 100-105 degrees in the middle of the day. My feet can get a bit exotic smelling riding in shoes at these temps. Plus, it's always weighed on my mind what would happen if I got stranded 25 miles out on a hot day. Walking home in my SPD-SL cleat road shoes wouldn't be an option. So I got these sandals to do two things.

        1) allow some airflow over my dogs to keep me comfortable and keep the funk at bay
        2) allow the option of actually walking if I ever need to get out of a bad situation.

Now, if I have trouble, I can stash the bike somewhere along the route and walk home without having to call my wife to take off work and come rescue me because I'm wearing road shoes.

About the shoes. They fit fine. They are significantly adjustable so there should be a lot of allowance for various foot types. They're kind of heavy if you compare them to true causal sandals but they are reinforced biking shoes so you go to pay the piper for the added stiffness. I personally commit the ultimate faux pas and wear socks with them but the style trade off is worth the sweat absorption to me.

        Cliff notes...

        I like them
        I'm glad I bought them
I will absolutely buy another pair like them in the future when these go to the footwear graveyard

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I think a biking sandal is a great idea. I like to be cool and comfortable and I hate wearing socks at ANY time. The only issue keeping me from rating this product 5 stars is the cleat cover. "Remove cleat cover with sharp knife and pliers." What was the manufacturer thinking? If I want a pair of walking sandals, I'll go to Birkenstock. Even the bike technician at my favorite bike shop thinks this is a terrible idea.

During a group ride into NYCity, I noticed one of our riders was wearing cleated sandles from Nashbar. I asked her for details and she raved about them. That was good enough for me and I ordered them that night. Two days later I was riding in my brand new super-comfortable sandles that are absolutely The Bomb for summer riding. Snug and secure as a road shoe, I find no difference in riding efficiency or stability. Best of all, no more cramped sweaty feet after a long ride.
