Cons

  • Difficult to disengage pedal.
  • Heavy

Best Uses

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

Somehow I got these for 1/3 the cost of the most popular brand. I'll give them a shot. Seems like I'll need some tape on my feet while I try to wear these in. Can't compare the weight to other brand name sandals, but these are a bit heavier than my Shimano SPD shoes. I would recommend these on sale with conditions. It will take me a year or two to know if I really like clip in sandals. They are more difficult to disengage, so I may ride with one clip in and one unclipped, at least for a while.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

First off, always use bicycling shoes/sandals when pedaling; if you don't, the pressure on your foot will discourage extensive cycling. Anyway, you can buy more expensive, name brand shoes/sandals, but these BikeNashbar sandals are extremely durable and usable for three seasons +. I haven't yet tried them in extreme cold with booties, which might make them 4-season. They are not very good for walking--which I've had to do in LordsburgNM-USA, for nearly 7miles/11kms. There is no tread sufficient for traction, especially on a gravel/loose surface (I/my Doublevision fell on AZ80 just North of DouglasAZ because the gravel shoulder had a downward tilt and my feet went!) But they are ideal for bicycling and getting good air flow. I am extremely pleased with these BN sandals, highly recommend them and they have my "Wheel of Approval!"

Since the Shimano sandals in my size were sold out and the newer model was $129, I opted for the house brand. When I received them I was appalled at the size, fit, and weight.

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I purchased these sandals for the largest organized ride across Iowa (RAGBRAI) and they were great during the warm temps. Comfortable, breathed, and just all around a great recommendation from a friend. I would buy them again and had several riders comment/compliment them and ask what brand they were. Price is very reasonable for the quality.

I bought a pair of these years ago and they are the most comfortable pair of cycling shoes I've ever owned. I wear them through 3 seasons - down to temps as low as 40° with socks on. Having worn my original pair out I just purchased another pair.

I've been waiting for these to drop in price for AGES and when they did, I jumped. Best shoe purchase decision in a long while. Been wearing Shimano shoes for a long time, but $120 for a pair of Shimano sandals is more than I could afford. After getting the cleats installed and adjusted, I have not put my regular shoes back on. I wear them for everything because they are cool and comfy, I love them. My wife wants a pair... Do they come in a version for women?

Comments about Nashbar Ragster II Cycling Sandals:

I assembled the cleats on the shoe and took off for a ride. To my horror when approaching a street I couldn't get the cleat unhooked from the pedal. The sole of the shoe is soft and the toe box is larger than a normal cycling shoe. I didn't have the room to unclip it and the soft sole added to the inability to unclip. Actually had to remove my foot from the shoe in order to stop. Hopefully I will learn the shoe better but initial impressions aren't that great.

I wear a women's size 8 regular shoe, and these sandals are a perfect fit in size 39/40. The three straps make adjustments very easy. Very, very comfortable.
