Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

I originally though they were plastic. Being that it is a side loading cage aluminum makes much more sense. They hold the bottle tight. Light weight and good looking. I wouldn't put these on my carbon road bike but perfect for a commuter or MTN bike.

Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

just came back from riding with these cages on my Nash bar trekking bike.
I have a 17" frame which was difficult to remove my 24oz bottle with the regular cages from, do to the low clearance from the top tube and sharp angle of my front top.
I used my 24oz bottles today, was able to remove them without any trouble.
these seem to be made well and since they made of aluminum if they loosen up a simple bend will tighten them up.
the only thing I ask is to make a tight sighted ones since when mounted on the seat post tube, the back faces to the right not like the front that faces left.
colors would be a nice feature also.
the price,$4.99 if you need this type of cage is a no brainer.

Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

I've owned at least three other varieties of cages, but these seem to be the best so far. They're rigid, but give enough to get the bottle in and out easily. With the side opening, it's going to be a lot easier to access while I'm riding.

I mounted this on a Trek Rumble fish and it causes no clearance issues. So far it has not lost a bottle and with the frame angles I had to have a side access holder. The sturdy aluminum looks like it should hold up to abuse.

Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

Because of the geometry of my dually, I could only carry one bottle. We like to do three hour-plus rides and wear camelbaks with water in them and carry bottles with energy drink. Out where we ride there's no resupply so we carry everything we need. This cage lets me fit a second bottle because of the side access. I now finish rides without being in extremis. Thanks Nashbar! The sale prices were a big plus. Haven't used it long enough to test durability but everything else is good.

Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

I bought this for my girlfriend's cruiser. I'm a road racer and we have some beater bikes for tooling around central park. This cage is perfect for the latter. It solves the problem of strange and small frames where you couldn't fit a regular cage easily BUT this is not a great solution for a road bike or someone looking for a snazzy look. Functionally it's perfect in every way: Made pretty well, durable, All Aluminum.

It's not really all that heavy but if you have a carbon frame and a 4k bike go buy a real side winder cage, this one looks and feels like it's meant for commuting.

All that said, this was purchased for a city beater bike, it's a perfect fit for the application. Nashbar wins again with awesome deals.

Didn't have enough room for a standard cage. No matter wear we put a standard cage on my sons bike there was a bar that made it to hard to get the bottle in. The sidewinder solved this.

Works good, haven't dropped a bottle yet. I wish there was a right side pull as well. It's aluminum so if it's not holding tight enough you can bend it in a little and it will hold.

Comments about Nashbar Sidewinder Bottle Cage:

Excellent cage. Mounts easy, strong, and allows for side entry. This is my favorite feature. I use lots of different size bottles, so I can press the frame to fit any bottle I want. I have only lost one bottle in nearly 8 years of use. That was on a climb where I was really bouncing the bike around. I instantly started riding correctly, and didn't have any problems the rest of the climb.(I was just loafing off) I am sure that it could happen on some serious downhills, but certainly wouldn't let that stop me. I also ditched one time, and the cage took a direct blow from a 6" diameter log. Bent it up bad. Looked like a semi hit a yugo. I spent 5 minutes shaping it, and has worked fine ever since. I ended up buying a second one for my mtb, but am considering it for my roadie also.
