Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers
Have you ever been envious of a rider's silky smooth cadence? We'd wager big bucks it came from riding rollers. And with the Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers you'll have the perfect means to sharpen fitness, improve bike handling skills, as well as eliminate any roughness from your pedal stroke. The 85mm diameter CNC-machined aluminum drums are a good compromise between generating enough resistance to build strength while still being providing the option to jack the RPMs up to stratospheric levels if so desired. Sealed cartridge bearings ensure super smooth operation while still being quiet enough to enjoy your favorite tunes or videos without cranking the volume. Riding rollers is a perfect way to keep your mind occupied and engaged throughout a workout - balance and riding in a straight line are key - while the fitness and buttery pedal stroke will pay dividends when you hit the roads or trails outdoors.
  • CNC machined aluminum drums, 85mm in diameter, feature sealed cartridge bearings for quiet, smooth operation
  • 50" x 18" aluminum frame and has 9 settings to accommodate just about any wheelbase
  • Frame has 3 sets of feet equipped with non-marring plastic fittings to protect floor finishes
  • Connecting belt is constructed of polyurethane for long life
  • Fully assembled and ready to ride right out of the box!

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

These rollers reproduce the feel of riding a flat road outside. Use your chain ring and cogs to adjust from easy to hard effort.

These rollers are fairly noisy on a yoga mat in a room with hard floors. However, they are quiet in a carpeted room with couches.

There is a learning curve with rollers. Be sure to place the rollers next to something sturdy you can grab onto for balance. Use them every day (for a least 5 minutes) and by the 6th day you will be confidently riding the rollers for as long as you like.

These rollers also work with the kreitler front fork stand. The stand allows for single leg and aero bar riding without having to balance or worry about crashing or adjusting the rollers in any way. For other riders in the family, the fork stand allows the rollers to be used like a rear wheel trainer.

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

Love that I can go straight from the street to the rollers without having to modify bike. Probably took me a month to get semi-comfortable on rollers. Used them regularly for a year with little signs of wear. You will need a fan in front of you. Strongly recommend attaching a corner of a towel to each hood then attach the other 2 corners behind or under the saddle. I did not and due to sweating have corrosion issues with several of the bikes components. You can also modify the rollers with magnets (search the net)if more resistance is desired. Sprint type intervals are extremely difficult on rollers due to my inability to stand up on rollers and really hammer.

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

Roller is an excellent quick workout, as you must get up to speed quickly and maintain that speed to balance.
Mostly need to start out in a door way to maintain balance for initial 30 seconds or so.

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

I cannot compare to other rollers so I don't give it the maximum stars. Came assembled, was very easy to adjust. Gets the job done - improves pedal stroke, balance you have to stay focused. Quite a workout. Did not take me more than 10 minutes to be comfortable. Key is not to overcorrect. Just slight twitches helps you go straight. The faster you pedal the more stable it feels and you also burn more calories. Gets you worked up pretty quickly, need a big fan as someone else mentioned and a lot of water.

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

Much better quality than I expected. I had Minoura MagRollers before and these are way better. Very quiet. Great workout. I purchased an extra belt while ordering.
*Look for a 25% Nashbar coupon before buying.

I use my Langster fixed track bike on it with the tyres pumped to 120psi.
The smoother the tyres, the quiter the machine will be.

PUT A FAN IN FRONT OF YOU. You will sweat a lot, unless you use a fan.
Also, put a towel on the floor under the machine.
Great workout for the core muscles. Takes about 10-20 minutes until you feel comfortable. Practice in a door jamb, and center yourself using your elbows.

Comments about Nashbar Reduced Radius Rollers:

I got these instead of a fluid trainer because i wanted to improve skills, and these definitely help. I use them with my fixed gear, and the learning curve (staying upright and on the rollers) is steep, especially riding fixed. They identified dead spots in my stroke and smoothed it out a ton. Bike control is also hugely improved; I can now ride on the white line of a road for miles and paceline 12-18 inches off another rider without actively thinking about it. Even things like drinking or moving from tops to drops is hard at first, but once you get it on the rollers you will be rock solid in a bunch ride.

The workout is intense - get a good fan and prepare to sweat. I can only push 48x15 on these in an interval workout for about a half hour before i'm spent -- i think the smaller roller diameter helps here but i've never ridden bigger diameter rollers. I have a set of wheels with a stiffer gear and cheap tires I use for harder workouts but can just throw the bike on in street trim and have a nice long spin at 48x18.

Set up in a doorway or hallway in case things get hairy-- you can just lean over against the wall instead of riding off accidentally. I watch movies on my laptop set up down the hall from me to help focus on a point in the distance.

I bought this because I was very bored riding a mag trainer and hoped rollers would be more active. They have exceded my expectations. Sure it was a little difficult but after about 20 minutes of making a fool of myself in front of my wife and kids I got the hang of it and am loving riding the rollers! Challenging enough that you have to pay attention but not really difficult. Give them a try and I promise you will prefer them to being locked in on a trainer.
