Comments about Nashbar MT2 Mountain Bike Crankset:

This is a burley piece of gear. Sweet enough fit and finish, and will get the job done. It's fully the equal of stuff from the big brands at half price. Mountain cranks only look new once. Fits very well with the Nashbar bottom bracket. It may make gram weenies cringe, as it isn't exactly made of helium, but it's great value for the dollar and will take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. Styling isn't exactly cutting edge, but when's the last time you looked at your cranks while riding?

For the price of the matching Nashbar bottom bracket, it's not unreasonable to buy one every year or so if you ride hard. Dope your threads with anti-seize during assembly and it's a 20-minute job to do the BB. Don't misthread your pedals. Keep stuff tight. Buy a torque wrench if you do your own work (and why wouldn't you? It's great fun.)

25+ years as a Nashbar customer, and the first bike I ever bought from them is still on the road with only routine maintenance and replacement of the stuff that wears out. The group and wheels are completely original after hard miles in rough conditions. BN have always provided excellent value for people that prefer to ride rather than sitting around talking over a brew.

Breaks my heart that they've done away with the $49.99 free shipping, though.

Comments about Nashbar MT2 Mountain Bike Crankset:

This was a nice replacement for an FSA ISIS crank and rode well under light loads. I had a problem with my Magnesium Wellgo pedals creaking with this crank and just not sure if it had something to do with dissimilar metals or what but also tried on a pair of cheaper new Avids and did the same thing where they creaked. Not constantly but just intermittently at times with varying pedal pressure. I did go thru the litany of checking the chain, BB, and chain rings and even lubed them all but the creaking was coming from the contact point of the pedals to the crank. Just happens enough on a ride that I decided to turn this back in since it was not the quiet I was hoping for with what I had in place before. May be a one off issue so if it was not for that, I would give it a high mark for the $.

I replaced a Shimano XT crank with XTR chainrings with this set up and you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal, performs flawlessly as good as my old set up but at much better price.

I bought two of these as an economical alternatives to buying replacement chainrings for 2 ten year old bikes. So far they work fine and look good.

What a great price for a crank that is working perfectly after a few very muddy late winter rides in the northeast.

Comments about Nashbar MT2 Mountain Bike Crankset:

I purchased this crankset, and the accompanying bottom bracket, a year ago because I liked the gear rations (46-36-26)and the cost. I purchased it for use in a Surly LHT that I was building from the frame up. I have taken the bike many paces - trails, roads, rail trail - and have never had a minute's problem with the crank. Not the lightest out there, but does its job reliably time after time.
