Shimano Ultegra 6700 Rear Derailleur
Upgrade your ride with some quality shifting. This rear derailleur is made with extreme attention to detail to help deliver that smooth, precise shifting we've all come to expect from Shimano. The Ultegra rear derailleur is built with the same functionality as the Dura-Ace model, making it an excellent option if you don't mind the extra 23 grams.

I replaced a prior Ultegra 9 with this 10 and it is amazing how much mine had worn after about 7,000 miles.

Comments about Shimano Ultegra 6700 Rear Derailleur:

I like this derailer because it causes envy among those with lesser derailers. It is 20 grams lighter than the Ultegra RD6500 that it replaced, which allows me to carry a couple extra oreos with no weight penalty. It is laterally stiff yet vertically compliant, and shifts flawlessly.

It's a 10 speed derailer, but I have jailbroken it to work with 9 speed. The finish is gray. The derailer also comes in black but the black one absorbs more energy from sunlight, expands with heat, and goes out of adjustment. It's a small price to pay for style, though.

I am awaiting the RD6800i that is available in Japan, which is WiFi capable and can be shifted remotely from an iPhone.

Comments about Shimano Ultegra 6700 Rear Derailleur:

I usually ride a consistent 50-80 miles weekly and have done so for more than 20 years. I have always used the Shimano Ultegra components when possible and have never been disappointed with the quality or service life of these products. The derailleur I'm replacing was destroyed in an accident (not worn out) after about 12 years of trouble-free service. This new ultegra unit appears to be it's equal in all ways. It functions smoothly and has a nice positive feel when shifting. Recommended.

It was well received and worked great right out of the box once I adjusted the limits on the derailer.
