Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

The one I ordered came with a dead battery. I decided to just put in a new battery. I didn't know that they made screws that tiny. Four hold the back plate on, very hard to find a screwdriver that small. But the big surprise came when I opened it up. An even smaller screw held the battery down. I managed but I needed a tiny Phillips screwdriver and tweezers to get the job done.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

My old HRM died, and I wanted a replacement. I bought one on close-out that tried to do too much, making it difficult to use. This product shows my current heart rate. After the workout, it gives me my max HR, avg HR, and tries to calculate calories burned. Very simple, and only what I want. Chest strap is reasonably comfortable. Only complaint is, it will occasionally show my HR as 235 (I am in my 60's!).

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

This is a basic HRM, with memory. It does exactly what I wanted - reliably record my workouts with Low, Average, and peak HR.

The watch replaced a similar unit which failed during an ocean swim.
My old cheat strap works with the new unit and it does register with some ellipticals and treadmills, although the results have not been consistent.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

Heart rate display is large and easily read. However, the stop watch display is too small to read. So if you're more interested in the heart rate, I would recommend this watch. I would not recommend it if the running time is important.

I've changed to listening to the experts and am monitoring my HR while I ride and using the data to record my rides. I'm 56 and trying racing for the first time this season and it's really helping to be able to stay within a certain HR while training.

            Price was very good

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

Bought this for my wife as she has been asking for a HRM. The watch is a little bulky for a smaller wrist, and the heart rate strap is not as flexible as the fabric straps many come with. It does appear to give accurate readings though, and the watch interface has a clean, simple to use design. It saves basic workout data, so you can access information such as peak heart rate after the run.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

I use it mostly on the road bike, to be sure that my heartrate is getting up. On the elliptical the same thing to get my heartrate up. For the money I've been extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

I had a polar before this but the Polar is much more expensive. The display characters are tall the thin and sometimes hard to discern. Operating advanced features e.g. workout data, can be confusing but then I just want HR which works great. The Polar chest strap would drive HRM on most gym machines...This does not.

Comments about Nashbar Tempo Heart Rate Monitor:

I am a cyclist and I am using this to train effectively. The big face on the watch and large numbers makes it easy to read. It collects adequate data for my purposes.

I've found the heart rate to be questionable. On a recent ride my high was 220bpm and my average 161bpm. I found that if I hung my arm to my side the bpm would increase rapidly and then return to a lower reading in a few seconds. I suspect the misreadings could be caused by the wireless computer on my bicycle. I will use it in other exercises to see if it is electronic interference or a defective HRM.

I bought this product as a try it you might like it. the price was low enough to buy it and if i didn't like it , it wouldn't be that much of a hurt in the wallet. It's not bad. Easy set up. I wish the light stayed on longer. And 'm not sure how accurate it is, I did the same workout on two different occasions, calorie counter was different by 300. Over all not bad for the price.
