Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

As this was my first road bike purchase, I spent numerous months researching on the internet to find out what components I should be investing my money in. Simply put, when buying this on a 20% off sale, there is no better deal out there for a new carbon road bike. Ive had it for a year and put just over 2000 miles on it. Im 6ft, 200lbs, and a medium fit me just fine (I would very likely fit well on a large too). Shimano wheels have remained true, shifters do their job, the frame absorbs the bumps wonderfully, and the looks and comments I get from people on its appearance are just a bonus. However, it did take a little extra money to get it just the way I want it. Of course, it doesn't come with pedals, and I went with Crank Bros black Candy 1's. Handlebar tape was way too thin (and slippery without gloves) for me, so I upgraded with some cushiony SRAM tape. Saddle's are of course a very personal thing, so I changed that out with my old WTB comp. But the most important change was a new headset. As much as I tried, I could not eliminate the fork play, so I finally took it to my shop who told me it had to be replaced, which cost me about $35 to do. Even considering the latter purchase, which I was a little annoyed about, I would still highly recommend this to anyone shopping for a new road bike. Your LBS will charge approx the same amnount for the same components, but with an aluminum or steel frame. Perhaps Im spoiled with having a carbon as my first frame, but I certainly wouldn't want to ride anything else. As much as I would love to support my local shops with a bike purchase, I want to get value for my money, which this bike has in spades.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

I ride approximately 360 miles per month and this carbon racer is the smoothest, most comfortable, lightest, most responsive bike I have ever owned. I stepped up from a BMC hybrid 54 cm. the "large" Nashbar frame is slightly bigger . . . Probably a 56 or 57. The black carbon frame and fork come unfinished so the black handlebar tape and rims give it a neat black-on-black look. Shimano shifters and brakes are smooth. I added Speedplay pedals and clips. Very happy with the purchase. Price could not be beat!!

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

Bought this bike as a holdover until I decided what my next bike would be. I haven't been disappointed. I have put a few hundred miles on it and love it. Saddle isn't uncomfortable like many have complained about. I love the bike, and only thing I would change is the Tiagra shifters. Took some getting used to with the handle bars being different than my specialized but I find them comfortable after riding for a month. I have unfortunately crashed it a few weeks in going roughly 25 mph and went over the front. The bike did not crack, and took it better than I did. I would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

I bought the bike 11 weeks ago and as of today I have 2000 miles on it. I'm 5'10" and the Medium is a perfect fit for me. I really like the gearing: Compact crankset 50-34 with 12-25 on back. The Tiagra shifters are great! I rode a friends with 105's and to me the Tiagra used less force and was more snappy switching gears. I have no plans to change the shifters. I did change the seat. It felt great on a 25 mile ride but I mostly do long rides. Seats are a personal thing. The best seat for one is the worst for another. I think what Nashbar put on the bike is a good seat. You just have to find what works for you. The bike feels great! I was very impressed at how well it climbs. The taller headtube gets the bars up for endurance rides. The frame geometry does great absorbing the road texture. The Rubino Pro III tires it comes with have great grip and low rolling resistance. They take 100-140lbs. I run mine at 130. These are folding tires and it comes with Kenda tubes. The valve stem is non-threaded and it comes with red caps. These are great when you have to fix a flat on the side of the road. The black caps get lost so easy! Currently there are 3 people with this same bike in this town. We are all very happy with them. My nephews did come with the front wheel untrue but I fixed that in 15 minutes. I have another friend with this bike that has nearly 4000 miles and he has not had any issues.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

I've been looking for an inexpensive entry level road bike, one that I could upgrade and enjoy right away. As I live in altitude I didn't want to have to carry the extra weight. I'm 6 foot with a 32 inch inseam, I chose the medium size. The first thing that I'll change is the handlebar tape - too thin for larger hands. The seat could be replaced as well, but so far my chamois padding in my bib is balancing that out. As I usually ride a mountain bike I went with SPD pedals. I've only had 3 runs with the bike all around 10 miles but so far so good.

I've been riding/repairing/building bikes for years and found it easy to build, but if you're not experienced then Nashbar should provide better instructions or take it to a LBS (local bike shop) to ensure a proper build.

Comments about Nashbar Carbon Road Bike:

1st off anyone who gave this bike a bad review because of the finish should probably not have even bought this bike. Matte is an actual finish of carbon fiber just like 3k and 12k weave. You love it or hate it but dont blame the frame as poor or unfinished. Keep it mind this frame is made to look like this, no one gave you some defect or messed up finish. Now on to the bike! This is a great deal for a carbon bike for under 1k! Components are great for the price. The Shimano R500 wheelset is a great solid set of wheels for the given price range and will hold up well to anything you do to them. I have a set on an other bike and they can take a beating. The Rear 105 shifts crisp and the Tiagra Shifters / Front does the job and very well. The frame finish is beautiful and very well done. The carbon is top quality and very strong, no fear what so ever in riding the heck out of this bike. I actually am using it as my new training bike since its getting time to retire my prior training road bike. Out of the box the 56cm Medium was 18.4lb. Its not the lightest but its not by any means heavy. The FSA Omega crankset is not what I would have went with as its on the heavy side of FSA line of cranks but I will be using them till they wear out and honestly I am not racing this bike so not concerned. The Seat, Bars, Stem, Post had to go they are the weakest link in the bike but then again they are something most people will change out for personal preference so they will get you going out of the box. The bike is very smooth and fast. I have only gotten to take it out for a fast ride since I just built it and its been raining nonstop but from what I did get to ride its a dream. Worth every penny when on sale.

I ordered the bike on Monday early morning and was at my door Wednesday cant really complain at that turn over time. 56CM fits me great at 5'10 with a 32inch inseam. I did swap the stem to a 100mm as a bike with this length TT tends to fit me better with a 90-100MM. I cant stress how nice this frame is. It is a solid bike for anyone looking to snag a cheap carbon build and have a great foundation to build up. And when I say cheap I mean price, this frame can be found sold on overseas sites or at least was at one point for only a bit less then the WHOLE bike. The stealth look is great as well, I really am happy with how it looks. If you dont care that your bike doesnt have some big name slapped on the side of it then get this bike. Dont even think twice, if its on sale pick it up. You can not go wrong at all with this bike and once you ride it you will be sold.
