Nashbar Parabolic Rollers

Have you ever been envious of a rider's silky smooth cadence? We'd wager big bucks it came from riding rollers. And with the Nashbar Parabolic Rollers you'll have the perfect means to sharpen fitness, improve bike handling skills, as well as eliminate any roughness from your pedal stroke. As an added bonus, especially for those totally new to roller riding, the parabolic-shaped drums with ramped edges are the ideal introduction as their design makes it quite easy to stay in the center of the rollers while riding. Sealed bearings ensure super smooth operation while still being quiet enough to enjoy your favorite tunes or videos without cranking the volume. But don't think of using rollers just for indoor training, take them to a race and find out how awesome they are for getting warmed up!

Riding rollers is a perfect way to keep your mind occupied and engaged throughout a workout - balance and riding in a straight line are key - while the fitness and buttery pedal stroke will pay dividends when you hit the roads or trails outdoors.

  • Parabolic shape of the roller drums makes it easier to stay in the center of the rollers
  • Sealed bearings guarantee a smooth, efficient pedaling action that more closely simulates riding on the road than other rollers do
  • Lightweight design folds up easily for storage and transport
  • Fits wheelbases from 37" to 43"

    Comments about Nashbar Parabolic Rollers:

These rollers are a great way to keep on the bike when weather doesn't permit. I have been using them daily all winter and have enjoyed the workout. The only issue I have with them is they have a chatter that comes and goes when riding at the center of the rollers. I don't know if there is a balance issue, an out of round issue, or a natural frequency issue, but the rollers will cause a chatter that lasts for 30 seconds or so then goes away then returns, on and on. Riding close to the edge or the roller reduces the chatter but also limits the useable area of the rollers. Other than that, I have no complaints, and I would have rated them higher otherwise.

This is my first foray into rollers. The parabolic shape seems to help keep my on course. They are smooth and quiet and I enjoy using them much more than my indoor trainer.

I have two sets of rollers at home that cost quite a bit more, the wife and I use them.
I wanted a set of rollers to keep at the office and saw this one, figured for office use it would do just fine...
it is much better quality than I was expecting....unpack, unfold, set the front roller to your bikes length, hook up the band to the front roller and ride... quick and easy...you will not do better for money

        Comments about Nashbar Parabolic Rollers:

Take this as a whine or constructive criticism. . . I am a mountain biker and ride 2-3 times a week usually 8-10 miles a ride. I am not used to spinning at high speed for any duration of time as the trails I ride are more technical. I thought the rollers would improve my pedal speed and balance over the winter. However, although my FS 29" mountain bike "fits" on the rollers they are maxed out. It is a bit unwieldy even with slicks. Definitely not ideal, but I thought I would get away with it. The FS creates some bob as expected even when locked out which throws off your balance. However, my biggest complaint is that there is no warm up time on these things. You have to maintain a decent pace to stay upright out of the gate. I feel like I am in sprint mode the entire time. I hate stationary bikes, but at least you can ease into your workout. With that said, it is a heck of a workout. You will break a sweat.

        Comments about Nashbar Parabolic Rollers:

Great bargain for the price, especially if you can get it on sale. Very evident that the product is quality made. Very easy to set up; you only need an adjustible wrench and a tape measure (to measure your wheelbase). Sets up in five minutes and then you are ready to roll.

Like all rollers, it takes practice to get the extra balance needed, but don't be disuaded. The parabolic roller 'edges' are great, and help you to stay centered, especially if you are a novice. Yes, your wife will be mad because now you will spend more time on the bike; and set it up in the living room. At least you will improve your cardio so the incessent nagging won't kill you. Can't say that much about the durability yet; but the unit is definitely solidly built. Strongly suggest you buy it, if you are thinking about it.

              Comments about Nashbar Parabolic Rollers:

After 2 years of frequent use, the plastic hinges broke. If you don't ride or sweat on these a lot I'm sure they'd last a lot longer. I put a few thousand miles on them for sure. If the hinges were metal and the nuts and bolts were stainless this would be a bargain. Nashbar did say they would give me a gift card for the purchase price if I sent them back, but I chose to make my own frame from wood instead.

Day 1 was a little hard to use...had to build some confidence. Day 2...much better, rode for about 15 minutes. I've now had these rollers almost a month and ride them pretty much an hour to an hour and a half every day. I'll be in much better shape in March when I can get outside!

I use this in my basement when the weather outside is not good for riding. Far more engaging and entertaining that a stationary trainer. The parabolic shape has saved me from more than a few possible spills, great product easy to learn on

                      Comments about Nashbar Parabolic Rollers:

I was skeptical at first...I bought my first road bike spring of 2013 and was only able to log about 125 miles on the road (I do hit the trails as well on the mountain bike and was pressured to buy a road bike) but getting on these was literally a 2 minute learning curve. I set it up in the basement in a door way and rode the first few miles with just regular shoes...now I ride clipped in and I even set up an old tube tv about 6 feet in front of me to help pass the time. Setup was quick...had to move the front roller foward, feels durable, rides smooth...keep the tires above 100psi. When you get close to the edge of the rollers you'll hear it as its a smooth finish and the rubber from the tire will squeel/squelch. Over all I'm happy and hope to benefit from them over the winter season.
