Comments about Pearl Izumi X-ALP Enduro III Mountain Shoes:

I was nervous ordering shoes bike online especially since I have had issues with my feet. I found these mens bike shoes wide enough to avoid aggrevating side-foot pain and comfy enough in the forefoot to avoid aggrevating the residual issues from a broken toe. I also liked that fact that they were basic black - I'm not into flashy-girlie-girl colors.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-ALP Enduro III Mountain Shoes:

I tried other Mountain shoes, and they tend to slip in my kitchen floor. These are non-slip when off the bike, but performs well when on the bike clipped or not clipped in.

Very durable, and I am a 210 lbs. guy who has been using them for the last year with no problems with them.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-ALP Enduro III Mountain Shoes:

I like long, comfortable, exploring rides. I try to do at least one ride over a 1000 miles each year and have done several cross country rides, self contained and supported. My usual shoe is a Sedi if I can find a big toe box. I'm not usually a Pearl Izumi fan but have never tried their shoes before. I saw these on sale and despite my reservations about buying shoes on line decided to give them a try.

So far I'm quite pleased, nice balance of comfort and stiffness. These shoes don't squeeze your feet like most road shoes and have enough toe room for my hobbit toes. The plastic sole give the shoe more stiffness than many of the other touring and MTB shoes I've used before but are still comfortable on the bike for those 80 to 100 mile days. Not the most sure footed shoe off the bike but fine for just walking around town. I like these shoes a lot as a touring and training shoe. Time will tell how they sand up, but very nice start.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-ALP Enduro III Mountain Shoes:

This shoe would be a great design, if it weren't for one glaring exception. The forefoot area lacks sufficient protection and stiffness for all but short rides. There's too much flex and too little reinforcement for mid to long rides, causing foot fatigue pretty quickly during heavy-duty peddling segments.

Otherwise the shoe is well designed, breathes well, good adjustability, with excellent off-bike traction thanks to the rubber lugged sole. If Pearl were to add some stiffness or reinforcement, this would be a great shoe for the money.
