Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes
Whether you're running for your life from an angry pack of hungry wolves or just pedaling to get some groceries, you've probably realized that normal mountain bike shoes are not ideal for doing too much off the bike. So we've gone and cooked up some crazy awesome mountain bike shoes that are perfect for those who spend a lot of time on and off the bike. The Nashbar Sport M mountain bike shoes have all the comfort and support of a regular every day sneaker, but with a hidden 2-bolt cleat mount in the sole. So if you're the type that spends as much time off the bike as on, these are the shoes for you.
  • Synthetic and nylon mesh upper is soft and comfortable, supports your foot through the entire pedal stroke, and has excellent ventilation
  • Reinforced nylon sole is stiff and won't flex through your pedal stroke, ensuring none of your power is wasted
  • Lugged rubber outsole is flat like a sneaker, and provides a natural walking feel
  • Ergonomically placed hook and look straps keep your foot secure while avoiding any hotspots or pressure points
  • Cleat mount is recessed into sole, simply use a knife or scissors to safely remove the mid-sole block on the forefoot and reveal the 2-bolt mounts underneath

Comments about Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes:

Due to a neurological disease I can no longer use clipless pedals. I needed something besides a trike so I opted for these. They have a reasonably stiff sole yet are easy to walk in. They also look pretty good, which is important to me because I'm exclusively a roadie. I've only had them a few weeks & have ridden them maybe 200 mi so I can't comment on durability.

I don't even know I have shoes on all I know is that I am attached to the pedals. I use the same pedals for my mtn bike and road bike so I use the mtn shoes for road and mtn. don't see any issues with that. very light and comfortable. one of the best investments I have made in awhile. The price was right and so was my decision.

Comments about Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes:

Shoe has a very narrow fit which makes it a bit uncomfortable for a wider foot. Tapers toward the toe so that it squeezes to much. It's bearable, but not preferred. Two straps makes it harder to adjust for right fit as well.

I bought a pair of Shimano shoes after I got these and like them MUCH more better. They are wider, have three straps for adjustment, and are very breathable.

If you have a smaller foot and are looking for a bargain price then these shoes will work. Otherwise I won't recommend.

Comments about Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes:

A decent basic shoe for the winter. Well constructed overall. I use Speedplay Frogs with them and have plenty of clearance when walking on hard floors after a ride. The narrow tongue, mentioned by others, is an oddity, but doesn't seem to compromise the fit, comfort, or performance.

Comments about Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes:

I'm a casual rider with my focus being participation in charity rides, rather than races. These are the shoes I chose for my fledgling venture into the use of clipless pedals. I have used these shoes as they are for brief training rides with Nashbar So-Ho pedals, and I felt a distinct difference in the use of these shoes rather than my old standby New Balance shoes: stiffer soles, sleeker and lighter, definitely as well suited to cycling use as you would think. I do believe these shoes will serve quite adequately once I get up the nerve to switch over to clipless!

Walking in these shoes is a little 'clunky', but maybe it's just me and/or getting used to them. Also, I feel that the use of materials in the shoes, while extremely efficient, doesn't allow much wiggle room. Specifically, if one has a thick/deep foot, as I apparently do, then if you don't center the tongue of the shoe just right, you end up with a gap on one side or the other. Like another reviewer, I found the velcro straps to be a little on the tight side/short, but livable.

Overall, I think these shoes will serve their purpose admirably, I feel they are well made enough that they should last quite a while considering the limited use they'll get.

Comments about Nashbar Sport M Mountain Shoes:

These are perfect for the commuter who dosen't want to change shoes when he gets to work. I teach school, so I am on my feet a good part of the day. I wanted a shoe that was clipless that I could wear with slacks at school. These look good with slacks and they perform good on the bike. The sole is stiff but I can walk in them comfortably. The only con is you can hear the cleat slightly when walking on concrete. The shoe is quiet when walking on floor tile and carpet. I give it 5 stars because these shoes are constructed excellently and they do exactly what I need them to do.

Very easy and natural to walk in; yet, very stiff and effective while peddling.
Love wearing them. Great price. Velcro straps are a little short, but no biggy.
Great shoes. Especially for this price.
